<Kaligule> Hi there. I am thinking about using sandstorm for my daily services. This includes ttrss. I noticed that the ttrss-package on oasis is more then a year old. Is there anything I can do to update it?

<JonTheNiceGuy> Hi Kaligule. Without getting into the TT-RSS sandstorm package, no, sadly not. The TT-RSS package was submitted by a community member, and the changes made to support Sandstorm haven't been accepted upstream to the TT-RSS repositories. If you're comfortable digging around inside virtual environments, you might be able to update the TT-RSS package and ask the Sandstorm project to accept your amendments.... And if you can get
<JonTheNiceGuy> the TT-RSS developer to accept the changes, so much the better (any updates he makes then would get incorporated in future releases).
<JonTheNiceGuy> TT-RSS is one of those apps, however, that only gets tweaks by the author and infrequently at that. On the whole, I wouldn't worry about TT-RSS.

<Kaligule> JonTheNiceGuy: I see, thank you. I will look into it, but first tests on my side show what you said: ttrss hasn't developed as much as I thought in the last year.
<JonTheNiceGuy> :)
<JonTheNiceGuy> Do you develop at all? If so, people connected to Sandstorm are very keen for people to update existing packages. There's a bounty even for it... :)
<Kaligule> JonTheNiceGuy: I will have a look at the code, but for what I know fox (the main developer of ttrss) isn't likly to be persuaded easily.
<Kaligule> I do code (actually I am looking for a coding job atm) so I will have a look at it. I don't have a personal sandstorm instance atm so I will have to do some work before I can do any tests.
<JonTheNiceGuy> To develop on sandstorm, there's a Vagrant instance you can use.
<JonTheNiceGuy> Let me see if I can find where that went...
<JonTheNiceGuy> https://docs.sandstorm.io/en/latest/vagrant-spk/packaging-tutorial/ <- This gets you stood up, at least part of the way :)
<Kaligule> Got to love good documentation. Thank you.
<JonTheNiceGuy> It's also worth posting to the mailing list if you're going to want to get more-than-passingly involved: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/sandstorm-dev
<JonTheNiceGuy> The group is a bit quiet, but Kenton (the originator of the project) works on this as a weekend thing, so don't be super suprised if it takes a few days to get a response. Also, he does reply in here when he's free.
<georgeowell> Is anyone having problems with TT-RSS? It's not been working for me for a week.
<georgeowell> Something about my browser no supporting cookies (it does)
<georgeowell> I'll dig a little deeper when I have time
<georgeowell> Error code: 2
<georgeowell> This program requires cookies to function properly. Your browser doesn't seem to support them.
<georgeowell> That's weird. It seems to work on the demo oasis sandstorm

<simpson> Hi! Before I over-complicate my task, a Capn Proto question: Can the compiler's CodeGeneratorRequests contain circularly-defined types?

<simpson> Meh, never mind, I just generated a letrec.
