Let's say I publish a block with a timestamp 2h1m into the future. No miner would ignore it, right? And if they do, it's basically selfish mining, but for free.

So either they'd build on it, or I'd get the benefits of selfish mining without being thwarted by SPY mining.

Yes, code allows +2h IIRC. And since miners' clocks will differ slightly, best not to explore the edge. And consensus rule says timestamp must be > median of past 11 blocks.

If I'm a mining pool with say 30%, why wouldn't I add 2h30m to all my blocks?

Alt 1: nobody looks at them, it's like selfish mining, I profit

alt 2: people build on them, I get to reduce the difficulty, I profit
<yanmaani>
And if difficulty is already offset by 2h30m and people tolerate that, why not add on further? If there's a breaking point, then why wouldn't I try to always stay like 30m behind it?
