Is it really a clone if the project was open source

they clone it, with the "1bitsquared" logo and everything AFAIK. So the potential customer doesn't know that this is not a board made & supported by esden

someone else making & selling OSHW boards is totally fine by me, if the customer knows beforehand what he gets and where it comes from

with these exact clones (incl. the logos and so on) the customer even has a hard time telling which kind of board it is when he has it in his hands

I think this is why whitequark planned to put the ATECC on the glasgow

so that one simple call of "glasgow show signature" or similar could prove where the board comes from
