GasVesa: you can do it from unity it is easier

the system network services are not compatible with this version

if i choose to shutdown from the menu it bring me to the login screen. there i can succesfully switch to xfce (xubuntu choice too)
<jas-hacks_>
GasVesa: from xubuntu if you choose shutdown it will really "shutdown".
<jas-hacks_>
GasVesa: did you pick cpu-freq kernel?
<GasVesa>
nope
<jas-hacks_>
GasVesa: can you test video works using totem + glmark2-es2
<GasVesa>
xfce menu is tellin' me that the network manager is not running

sure i can... how?

test video by launching movie-player and selecting a video file to play.
<jas-hacks_>
want to check sound is working.
<GasVesa>
38 36 39 39 39 39
<jas-hacks_>
good scores
<GasVesa>
but for a file to play i need to configure the network
<jas-hacks_>
won't stream well from network, better to copy file to usb stick/sd card
<GasVesa>
.mp4 it's ok?
<jas-hacks_>
that should work, can try 720 or 1080 files

<drachensun>
jas-hacks_ Can you send me your devmem tool for Android?
<jas-hacks_>
GasVesa: give the neverball game a try
<drachensun>
I found a little devmem program that I think does what I need but I remember building even basic things for Android being a pain
<GasVesa>
jas-hacks_, sure, i'm struggling with usb automount
<jas-hacks_>
GasVesa: it seems to randomly work at the moment.. and takes some time before drive appears. If drive is present in "/dev/sdx" then you can mount manually
<GasVesa>
good
<jas-hacks_>
drachensun: android compile was/is a pain, I'll try and find the out the binary I have and upload
<drachensun>
thanks
<drachensun>
I understand now what you were saying the other day about the setup
<GasVesa>
jas-hacks_, maybe neverball doesn't like xubuntu... freezed at Play Replay Help Option Exit screen
ajayr has joined #imx6-dongle
<jas-hacks_>
drachensum: thats good, did you try "board-mx6q_arm2.c", that seems to be closest to what richtechie started with.
<jas-hacks_>
GasVesa: neverball works for me in xubuntu
<drachensun>
I tried the sabreauto and that hit some hardware breakpoint and froze
<drachensun>
I couldn't find what was calling it
<jas-hacks_>
try board-mx6q_arm2.c
<drachensun>
I took the display init calls out of the sabreauto and they look similar to the arm2.c ones and just copied them into the hdmi init
<drachensun>
I'm looking at it more now
ajayr has quit [Ping timeout: 264 seconds]
<drachensun>
if you build more than one system type, do you know how it selects which on to initialize? It seemed when I tried sabresd which was referenced by richtechie when they sent the code its init doesn't get called

don't believe richtechie .. they just mentioned sabread to put you/us on the wrong path, same with our stick.
<GasVesa>
ritchtechie i evil!
<GasVesa>
:-)
<GasVesa>
wth is richtechie?
<drachensun>
wow
<drachensun>
now that you mentioned in
<drachensun>
several fb_videomode are defined in arm2.c and not anywhere else I can tell
<drachensun>
they seem to set several crucial LCD settings

armadillo
<jas-hacks_>
Yeah thats is the one
<drachensun>
stopped at hw-breakpoint: found 6 breakpoint and 1 watchpoint registers.
<drachensun>
is there a way to advance from those breakpoints?
<jas-hacks_>
can you pastebin
<GasVesa>
jas-hacks_, totem play that 1080 file at less than 20% cpu (lookin at top while playin)
<jas-hacks_>
GasVesa: that looks good and sound ok?
<GasVesa>
i need to move to the other room for admi sound
<drachensun>
well it looks like it froze
<GasVesa>
jas-hacks_, cannot play hdmi sounds here, later i can give it a try an my gf tv :-)

so maybe that breakpoint is just info and then the thing they are meant to protect from happens
