I've got some questions: 1. Is anyone out there doing anything with some kind of diskless operating system hosted on IPFS, like some kind of Inter Planetary Operating system, allowing client devices to run only with CPU and RAM and an internet connection?
<chrishobcroft>
2. Is anyone out there interested in discussing an idea involving connecting audio editing software like Audacity to IPFS to create a distributed global online music collaboration "platform"? If so, hit me on chrishobcroft@gmail.com
<chrishobcroft>
3. Is anyone playing with using IPFS / WebTorrent for broadcasting live streaming video - e.g. Periscope / Facebook Live, but decentralised? Again, hit me on chrishobcroft@gmail.com if you want to talk.
<chrishobcroft>
Lots of love to you all, from early-springtime in Berlin :)
<cblgh>
i was just thinking about 3 in the shower today :3
<patagonicus>
chrishobcroft: regarding 1: I'm not aware of anyone developing something like that (but I haven't looked in quite a while), but some time ago I did a proof of concept (boot device had bootloader + kernel + initramfs, initramfs loaded a squashfs root via IPFS and executed it). If you're interested in building something like that I can go a bit more into detail or maybe even contribute.
<chrishobcroft>
Thanks patagonicus
<chrishobcroft>
Ping me an email on chrishobcroft@gmail.com and we can discuss there?

I might make some documentation about IPFS-FUSE for an assignment for my advanced Unix class. However I heard that the ipfs-fuse subsystem will be reworked. I would rather not have an assignment with a moving target. Will at least the commands for ipfs on fuse stay the same/similar? Or will I as a user feel the changes as they are made?
<Kubuxu>
yeah, the CLI will be the same
<Kubuxu>
it might just be `ipfs-mount` instead of `ipfs mount`
<google77>
oh, ok
Caterpillar3 has quit [Ping timeout: 240 seconds]
<google77>
Mosst of the stuff I would have to do to set it up will remain the same as well then? And users mostly won't notice the change?

i don't think money is needed though? at least not for official devs

in that case you could fund extra devs if you want to contribute but can't code, i guess

i might be wrong though
