<swedneck[m]1> would an admin in the matrix room mind helping us set up the discord bridge?

<swedneck[m]1> actually a moderator might work too
<lgierth> this matrix room isn't currently set up properly
<lgierth> we're gonna fix that soon but at the moment there's no admins
<lgierth> actually, this is an irc room
<lgierth> the matrix part is a bridge
<Kolonka[m]> yeah in my experience things are nicer to manage when it's a separate room that's bridged

<victorbjelkholm> in the go-ipfs config, setting Swarm.AddrFilters would prevent those ranges to be connected to? Is there a way of setting a inverse-filter? I want to specify a range that the node is only allowed to connect to instead of disallowing

<the-erm> Is there a way to manually trigger garbage collection? Searching for "ipfs manual garbage collection" gives me a link to a wikipedia article.
<the-erm> Nothing sticks out when I run `ipfs` from the command line.
<victorbjelkholm> the-erm: yeah, `ipfs repo gc`
<victorbjelkholm> `ipfs commands | grep -i gc` is a nice way to search through all commands

<the-erm> Thanks
<the-erm> Just to confirm, `ipfs repo gc` isn't going to mess with pinned content is it?
<ToxicFrog> No. Every pinned object is a gc root.

<the-erm> The next question is if I run `ipfs add -r <folder>` and then I delete the folder, does the content still stay pinned as long as I don't delete the `~/.ipfs` folder - or whatever I set the env `IPFS_PATH` to?
<the-erm> I guess I could test ...
k0mpjut0r has joined #ipfs
<the-erm> It's my understanding once you add/pin a file it's always going to exist in `~/.ipfs` but I could be wrong.

<swedneck[m]1> you are correct
<swedneck[m]1> unless you use --nocopy, in which case it relies in the content staying in place
<Kolonka[m]> I wonder, what difference does --nocopy make with object creation?
<Kolonka[m]> if the original file is untouched, then to the blocks simply link to certain parts of that file rather than holding the data itself?
<Kolonka[m]> wouldn't that slow down I/O?
<Kolonka[m]> then do*

<emunand> hey guys, im trying to add some pretty big file to IPFS but it doesn't seem to be working
<emunand> it always stops at 10.03%, and doesn't increase even after waiting quite a while
<emunand> i haven't turned my daemon on, as i dont think it's necessary to need it while adding files
<emunand> if it helps, im adding a bunch of small files with lots of directories
<emunand> im also running this command to add the files:
<emunand> `ipfs add -w -r --nocopy --raw-leaves $filename`
<emunand> well it should say $foldername, not $filename
<emunand> any idea on what to do?
