<rob-deutsch> Quick silly question: What's the correct way to update ipfs/go-ipld-format and then install a new ipfs/go-ipfs executable?
<rob-deutsch> I tried the following steps, but it doesn't work: 1) Make changes ipfs/go-ipld-package 2) Go to ipfs/go-ipfs and use gx-workspace to update everything amending packages as I go 3) running "make build" or "make install" in go/go-ipfs returns a lot of errors about packages way outside
<rob-deutsch> e.g. github.com/Kubuxu/go-os-helper

<the-erm> Hi, I wrote this https://github.com/the7erm/ipfs-feed-translator not sure if anyone is ever going to use it but if you have an rss/atom feed that's a podcast it'll convert all the enclosures to ipfs.
lemonpepper24 has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<the-erm> I guess I should also mention it creates an ipns entry as well.
<rob-deutsch> cool, how does it actually publish to IPFS?
<rob-deutsch> whoops, sorry, i just found it, you call the ipfs executable
<the-erm> Yes I "cheated"
<the-erm> Although I don't really think it's cheating, just using the tools that are available.

<patientplatypus> hello is anyone here?
<lidel> hi patientplatypus, it looks like one of bootstrap servers is down
<patientplatypus> @lidel
<patientplatypus> yeah, but....
<patientplatypus> im getting that error but EVEN WHEN im not using that named server
<lidel> are you overwriting default bootstraps?
<patientplatypus> im doing that^^^^
<patientplatypus> also, im getting a cors error,
<patientplatypus> Cross-Origin Request Blocked: The Same Origin Policy disallows reading the remote resource at https://node1.preload.ipfs.io/api/v0/refs?r=true&arg=QmZkqQ2yNTRwqxZK9Bj5x5zaCzyZWoRjbvfUE6tzNp7uej. (Reason: CORS header ‘Access-Control-Allow-Origin’ missing).[Learn More]
<patientplatypus> but, i have cors allow-origin: *
<patientplatypus> wtf

<patientplatypus> woops that gist got corrupted: https://gist.github.com/patientplatypus/1e3fe4c48375d5a4fc4b058168f4b988
<lidel> patientplatypus, that gist has config of go-ipfs, but the wss://ams-1.bootstrap.libp2p.io/ error comes from js-ipfs running in the browser: https://github.com/ipfs/js-ipfs/blob/2585431ae311213bf4b80d4ebf3971e2b78dc898/src/core/runtime/config-browser.js#L19-L27
<lidel> cor error about preload node is not your fault, I think node1.preload.ipfs.io is just down
<lidel> *cors
<lgierth> looks up to me
<patientplatypus> @lidel that doesnt make sense - i dont specify the wss server in my code and i didnt have to before
<patientplatypus> *when it was working
<lgierth> oh hrm
<patientplatypus> ah....so not my fault - like i said my code was working this morning for me with no change
<lgierth> lidel: but ipfs.io can't fetch QmZkqQ2yNTRwqxZK9Bj5x5zaCzyZWoRjbvfUE6tzNp7uej either
<patientplatypus> grr
<lgierth> https://node1.preload.ipfs.io/api/v0/ls?arg=/ipns/ipfs.io is fine
<patientplatypus> why down tho?
<patientplatypus> so wait is it down or not?
<lgierth> (looks up to me)
<lidel> patientplatypus, config i linked is the default for js-ipfs, unless you override bootstraps with your own, you will use default ones including ams-1
<lgierth> i also just rebooted ams-1 so ipfs there should be up again too
<patientplatypus> can someone confirm if ams-1 is dowN?
<patientplatypus> *down
<lgierth> it's back up
<swedneck[m]1> lgierth: yo lidel told me to talk to you about the matrix room
<swedneck[m]1> if possible, i'd like to help out with getting a proper matrix room set up
graphene has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<patientplatypus> ok, the ams-1 error went away but im still getting cors when i wasnt before
<patientplatypus> and i have allow-origin * in my ipfs/config file
<patientplatypus> Cross-Origin Request Blocked: The Same Origin Policy disallows reading the remote resource at https://node0.preload.ipfs.io/api/v0/refs?r=true&arg=QmZkqQ2yNTRwqxZK9Bj5x5zaCzyZWoRjbvfUE6tzNp7uej. (Reason: CORS header ‘Access-Control-Allow-Origin’ missing).
<patientplatypus> why is this happening?
graphene has joined #ipfs
<patientplatypus> is there a setting on the ams-1 box that needs to be flipped to allow cors on the server side?
<patientplatypus> @lgierth
<patientplatypus> @lidel, or anyone else really
<lgierth> mmh cors issues again on that host? i'll take a look

<patientplatypus> this isnt working anymore, even when removing the ams-1 server. does anyone know what is happening?
<patientplatypus> my config file is correct, my IPFS instantiation looks correct, ive tried using my own rendezvous server. nothing
<patientplatypus> im super confused
<patientplatypus> i think this is a bug related to this; https://github.com/ipfs/js-ipfs/issues/1476 and I have no idea on a fix.
