are you running into issues or just thinking about it at the moment?

trying to avoid issues in my thinking

like idk how would the files be transferred on lan

<swiftshader>
also I probably can't mount with a remote daemon
<aphelionzDiscord>
well it depends on if you have one machine running an IPFS node on the lan that the others interact with via the HTTP API, or if each machine has its own IPFS node and they make a nice little local swarm
reit has quit [Quit: Leaving]
<swiftshader>
aphelionzDiscord: I want a local swarm yes
<swiftshader>
aphelionzDiscord: for example I publish a big data chunk and other boxen just mount the dir and use some parts of data
<swiftshader>
maybe also pinning some of them for offline usage
<aphelionzDiscord>
in that case the data would be transferred via the native IPFS bitswap, kinda like bittorrent
<swiftshader>
but it will not work if all the clients are behind nats
<swiftshader>
will need to punch with packet forwarding probably

you should look into ipfs-cluster

it might take care of a lot of that for you

Is there such a thing as an ipfs standalone executable similar to how some uses ffmpeg or mpv or whatever?

<RenAmamiya5010[m "Is there such a thing as an ipfs"> uh yeah that's how you use ipfs normally
<RenAmamiya5010[m>
So no need to install go or anything like that?
<RenAmamiya5010[m>
Even better, no need to put it in %PATH%?
<RenAmamiya5010[m>
(assuming the software is compiled Python code that can execute)
<swedneck2>
no you just run the binary
<swedneck2>
and go-ipfs isn't python, it's go
<swedneck2>
(also i've never seen a program made in compiled python)

Hello
<stavros>
I've set up an IPFS cluster with one peer with Raft consensus, then added a second one later. Trying to stat something on 9095 on the oldest peer hangs (I assume that's because it's pinning, is that correct?), but trying to stat something on the second returns a 502 HTTP error. Why is that?
