<kares>
enebo: any reason why you're against doing rc releases instead of several point ones?
<kares>
or do you fear people would not try those?

<enebo>
kares: in general less people try rcs. in this case we were supposed to be putting out point releases and those should never require them...except when you don't put one out in 5 months
<enebo>
kares: but we have done previews before major releases in the past. Not in a while though
<enebo>
kares: if we ever go this long without any release we will definitely consider previews/rcs
<kares>
enebo: feel like there's often a small breakage in a point, most times it might not matter much
<kares>
but what it would allow is to run CI on travis against various repos of JRuby and others such as Sequel
<kares>
its easy to spot regressions if there's a few days to test out a release against a few external suites
<enebo>
kares: yeah we have been talking about getting strategic projects in our ci or theirs in ways we can know when we regress
<enebo>
kares: which is one reason you are seeing sequel ci stuff now
<enebo>
plus jeremyevans has really been super helpful in getting us such fast feedback
<enebo>
if we can make sure we never regress then we help people who are willing to help us
<enebo>
plus we obviously want a good release
