<kantlivelong> is there a way i can use an older kernel on a newer image? i want to use the rock64 nightly-20181001-bf09c1f with the latest beta
<chewitt> kantlivelong: since RK images use the same static kernel codebase you can probably do that, e.g. take KERNEL from one and SYSTEM from a later image
<chewitt> but the codebase is basically static, so there's unlikely to be any real-world difference between the kernels anyway
<chewitt> so, what's the issue with the newer KERNEL ??
<kantlivelong> chewitt: i'm getting periodic pauses during playback with the recent LibreELEC-RK3328.arm-8.90.011-rock64 image
<kantlivelong> whereas LibreELEC-RK3328.arm-9.0-nightly-20181001-bf09c1f-rock64 has the occasional lockup but no periodic pauses.
<kantlivelong> but obv 10-01 is an older release of kodi
<chewitt> You can try the older kernel
<chewitt> not sure it will prove much, but in the absence of any better suggestions :)
<chewitt> I'm not tracking RK development in detail so can't comment on current state
<chewitt> (mostly as we stopped development pending a change to mainline kernels)
<kantlivelong> yeah i saw that rock64 was somewhat on hold until 4.20
<kantlivelong> hoping its only a few months out :)
