Hey guys, I am still running kodi on a celeron (kudos to fritsch for the spare parts!) and I lookting forward to upgrading my TV and my Kodi hardware platform. I have put together an ad hoc list of requirements and would be happy if those of you have are familiar with recent platforms could take a look, possibly add useful requirements, and comment/propose what platforms would be fitting (e.g. an Intel NUC?). Fell free to respond here
<jus7incase>
ore in the hastebin, in that case please put the hastebin URL here. The list of requirements is here: https://paste.kodi.tv/dalacamape

fritsch: I tried to reproduce the "clean library" problem in difference scenarios with full logging. It did not occur. I bet it happens some time when debug log is off :)
<mack->
short answer to previous hardware recommendation is: hardware isn't in the best place right now. There's been discussion about it here and on the forum
<mack->
well, linux drivers aren't in the best place right now
<jus7incase>
mack: what do you mean by hardware is not in the best place. do you recommend a different channel?
<mack->
I meant linux drivers are lagging behind hardware
<DaVu>
jus7incase: take the answers you got at #kodi.
<mack->
I'm sorry. I should not have used an idiom and used clearer English.
<DaVu>
Nothing to apologize. ;) all fine
<mack->
#kodi is too noisy to monitor. Curious if they said much different
<jus7incase>
davu: not sure how much overlap the two channel participants lists have, but the topic fits both, obviously
<DaVu>
Yeah. Just saying, that it's not a hardware problem, if the Kernel is missing code
<jus7incase>
davu: good, so i do not need to worry about hdr for the kodi hardware, it will be there at some time.
<jus7incase>
davu: actually I am mentioning HDR because the content would be a bit bigger than with a 8bit color space, right?
<jus7incase>
davu: so it is more of a preformance requirement
<DaVu>
I don't know much about HDR, tbh.
<DaVu>
But yeah, it likely might be 10bit
<jus7incase>
so thats like 10-20% more data
<DaVu>
probably yeah. And therefore also a higher bitrate which is most important
<jus7incase>
will a Gen7 nuc be able zto cope with 3d 4k with hdr?
<DaVu>
how could one know if it can't be tested due to missing Kernel?
<DaVu>
I could also says "theoretically yes", but that wouldn't help you :)
<jus7incase>
it would help
<jus7incase>
if the platform is working well with 4k 3d material and still not too busy, it will also do well with 10-20% higher bitrate

<jus7incase>
just an estimate whether the harware is near to saturation already With 4k 3d
<jus7incase>
if ther eis plenty of room for higher bitrate then it shoudl work out fine
