<chewitt> jsgh is it a clean LE build, or did you build then update to F32 and respin the existing LE build?
<chewitt> if the latter .. rm -rf the build folders and do a clean rebuild
<chewitt> anddam Kodi has a webserver enabled by default on port 8080
<jsgh> Deleted the build.* directory several time and tried updating libs individually to get past previous errors. For example got a missing #include <string> on the 9.2.6 branch version of binutils
<chewitt> anddam this will allow you to browse media that has been scraped into the library.. and you can play the media (on the TV)
<jsgh> That went away on updating binutils from 2.32 to 2.35.1
<jsgh> I'm now at head of libreelec-9.2 branch, still broken
<chewitt> LE uses Ubuntu 18.04 for building 9.2 images
<chewitt> so it might be easiest to use a Docker container (look in the tools folder)
<chewitt> not as simple as building 'native' but avoids playing "hunt the dependency"
<jsgh> I even searched my local (host) installs - had compat-openssl10 RPM installed, which I got rid of, but it looks like the build is still leaking openssl versions between host and build
<chewitt> LE master branch might do better on newer distro bases
<chewitt> (although you're prob. building 9.2 for a reason)
<jsgh> I'm basically trying to do a build of "last release 9.2" + my own patches. Worked in Feb 2020, not so good now...
<jsgh> I've even tried updating the openssl package.mk to 1.1.1i (same as F32 system), but for some reason the LE build still seems to want the @1.1.1b syms...
<chewitt> the build-system needs an era-appropriate OS build base
<chewitt> e.g. to build LE 7.0 you'd need Ubuntu 16.04 or equivalent
<jsgh> Given it's cross-building it really ought to insulate its own stuff from the system stuff.
<chewitt> It should, but this is a process of continuous improvement and we're still learning
<jsgh> but where is the current leak coming from? The LE build has its own versions of libssh and libcurl, but seems to be trying to pull in the system libs instead...
<chewitt> @lrusak_ ^ ping .. you're a Fedora user

<tdm4> Hi all.. I have a Rpi4 running LibreELEC 9.2.6.. every time it starts up it defaults to Pulse Audio and I have to always go into Settings -> Audio and set it to HDMI. Every time. Is there a way to make it default to HDMI instead of PulseAudio?

<tdm4> got another question.. I set up WireGuard in connmanctl.. and when I connect I can ping the endpoint, and can ping the DNS resolvers. I can even resolve hostnames, but the traffic goes out and never comes back. Route table is weird.. it adds routes through my normal gateway for the DNS but then sets default route through wg0.. but packets go out and never come back
<tdm4> ahh does Host = need to be an IP address not a hostname?
<pragmaticenigma> tdm4, all your questions are answered in the documentation ^ ^
<buzzmarshall> question for anyone messing with the Allwinner Soc's...
<buzzmarshall> i am looking to pick up a couple of allwinner based boxes to test some stateless code and am curious as to which box would be the best to look at picking up
<buzzmarshall> is the H616 the way to go?
<buzzmarshall> or should i be looking at one of the other Allwinner SoC's
<tdm4> pragmaticenigma: yeah I figured it out.. Host= needed an IP not a hostname
<tdm4> but the audio device defaulting to PulseAudio at startup.. no way to change that?
<pragmaticenigma> what would you need it changed to?
<tdm4> HDMI
<pragmaticenigma> PulseAudio is the sound driver/mixer without it you get no sound at all
Tobbi has quit [Quit: My MacBook has gone to sleep. ZZZzzz…]
<pragmaticenigma> So I'm not sure what you are looking at ... all my devices have always output the audio to the connected HDMI device without me needing to adjust anything
<tdm4> Audio output device -> PI: HDMI
<tdm4> at boot it gets set to: "PULSE: Default, Bluetooth Audio (PULSEAUDIO)" and the sound doesn't work
<tdm4> and every time I have to manually change it back to "PI: HDMI".. kind of annoying
<tdm4> I would have thought PulseAudio could use the HDMI output? I guess not.
<pragmaticenigma> ah, i see... I didn't know bluetooth audio was listed that way
<pragmaticenigma> I think it's poor naming
<pragmaticenigma> -OR- Audio is directly driven through the hardware, where pulse is required for bluetooth. of that archetecture, I'm not sure
<tdm4> yeah this is a Raspberry Pi 4
<tdm4> setting hdmi_force_hotplug=1 in config.txt didn't help (probably not what I was thinking it would do)
<pragmaticenigma> https://forum.libreelec.tv/thread/21538-problem-with-hdmi/ might help ... there are some settings for the config.txt
<pragmaticenigma> It might be the HDMI device is too slow at responding to the probes from the RPi
<tdm4> the problem with HDMI isn't the video.. it's the audio device defaulting to PulseAudio and not actually outputting via HDMI
<tdm4> I don't think PulseAudio sees the HDMI device as an output device
<tdm4> default sink is auto_null
<pragmaticenigma> you might have a bad board: https://forum.libreelec.tv/thread/21538-problem-with-hdmi/
<tdm4> pragmaticenigma: the settings suggested there didn't work for me.. sound still defauts to PulseAudio and is silent. hmmm
<pragmaticenigma> yes, if you read through the whole thread, the ended up getting a new board and problem was resolved
<pragmaticenigma> so I'm not sure it's something that can be resolved
<tdm4> hmm I wonder if it's the CEC Adapter stuff.. I don't think I use a CEC adapter (my TV's probably too old)
<tdm4> should that be disabled if not in use?
<pragmaticenigma> CEC is something different

<tdm4> WARNING: Pulseaudio module module-allow-passthrough not loaded - opening PT devices might fail
<tdm4> Pulseaudio finds 2 lists of devices.. one list starts with HDMI as Device 1 (then Analogue as device 2, HDMI and Analogue as device 3).. and then the second list starts with Bluetooth Audio (PULSEAUDIO) as Device 1.. and it just seems to default to that one
<tdm4> first list is Enumerated PI devices, second is Enumerated PULSE devices..

<pragmaticenigma> I'm out of my knoweledge base there :-(
<tdm4> wonder if it's some buried bluetooth setting that should be turned off?
<pragmaticenigma> is it possible for you to image a new instance?
<tdm4> hmm.. maybe but I'd rather not have to do that
<pragmaticenigma> no spare SD card to try with?
<tdm4> what I should ask the channel is.. is there anyone here who has Audio device set to PULSEAUDIO who is actually getting sound output over HDMI?
<tdm4> (rather than set to PI: HDMI)

shibboleth has joined #libreelec
<lurtz> why does not NFS work with this libre ELEC?
<tdm4> if I ssh in, kill the pulseaudio process, and systemctl restart kodi ... then when Kodi starts back up it correctly defaults to HDMI
<lurtz> the export is fine
<tdm4> I'm just gonna 'systemctl disable pulseaudio' for now.. too annoying to even ru
<tdm4> run
<tdm4> well this is crap.. can't even disable pulseaudio.. it just comes back
<pragmaticenigma> I really think it would be best to make a second SD card, from scratch, see what it does. If it it exhibits the same behavior, then it'd consider it being a hardware problem. If it works as expected, you can then compare the configuration files from each, figure out the differences, and hopefully narrow down the issue better
<pragmaticenigma> lurtz, check that the user has proper permissions for that directory path, log file on the NFS host should provide some clues too
<tdm4> I think pulseaudio is broken in libreelec... if I run: PULSE_RUNTIME_PATH="/run/pulse" pacmd list-sinks all I get back is dummy output (auto_null)
Strykar has quit [Excess Flood]
Strykar has joined #libreelec
<tdm4> it doesn't even see HDMI as an output device
<tdm4> even if I stop kodi and restart pulseaudio.. still only a dummy device available. I know kodi grabs the audio device when it starts, but this just isn't registering any useful audio devices
lolek has joined #libreelec
<tdm4> my guess is config in /etc/pulse/default.pa or /etc/pulse/system.pa is broken
<shibboleth> mind me asking a somewhat general question?
<shibboleth> i have a couple of *very* expensive speakers connected to a very expensive class-a amp
<shibboleth> rapi-hdmi audio to the tv, analog/RCA audio to the amp
<shibboleth> and, eh..
<shibboleth> if i connect my PC to the TV the audio which comes out the speakers is fine
<shibboleth> but using the rpi i always end up with... movie/tv music and dialog somewhat loud compared to "sounds"
<shibboleth> like, claxon, sound effects, those things
<shibboleth> anyone happen to have an idea as to why?
<pragmaticenigma> tdm4, all things that I have a strong suspicion can get ruled in/out with a fresh image
<tdm4> is "Bluetooth Audio Device Changer" (9.2.0.102 by Team LibreELEC) a standard add-on by default or does it need to be added?
<pragmaticenigma> tdm4, I have nothing listed in my addons called that
<pragmaticenigma> I have the Rpi2/3 image though
<pragmaticenigma> shibboleth, check in Settings => System => Audio (Expert mode) ... there are tons of settings in there. I'm not sure what all they do or are for, but they are documented on the kodi wiki
<pragmaticenigma> shibboleth, you "might" be able to enable audio passthrough
<pragmaticenigma> shibboleth, otherwise for me, I have found not maxing out the volume setting but leaving it between 75-85% reduces the dynamic range jumps
<pragmaticenigma> I just don't have a receiver to test passthrough with
Fenster`` has quit [Ping timeout: 246 seconds]
<tdm4> oh well.. I'm out of ideas. Maybe there's a default config of the /etc/pulse/* files somewhere for the RPi4 image..
<pragmaticenigma> for real dude... new image and you can know for sure if you configured something wrong, if you have a hardware issue
<pragmaticenigma> clear the table of all the variables and start with a clean slate. build from that... so much easier than searching through random config files and everything else
<shibboleth> hmmm
<shibboleth> the options are limited on the pi4 compared to pi3x
<shibboleth> passthrough isn't an option
gouchi has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
