But the app doesn't let me select the path to my SD card. It's all greyed out...

What app are you using? Are you following a tutorial (hopefully the one offered on the LibreElec site)? Does the burner program require sudo privelages (many do to handle mounting and unmounting the drive)? Is the card currently mounted in the system (they need to be unmounted before you can image them)?

To get help, you need to make sure you tell people what you are doing and how you are trying to do it. what programs you are using, etc... that's helpful information to help others help you

I did chmod +x on it, it loads fine and lets me select the image. But nothing after that.

Etcher seems to have solved the task. But I'd be happy to troubleshoot this app if you want.
