<ponyofdeath>
after upgrade to 10b2 on my pi4 all my content now has black bars on the side of my tv. am I missing something?
<ponyofdeath>
the gui displays fine tho
<lrusak>
Dunno, is the aspect ratio correct?
<lrusak>
What resolution are you using and what is the size of the content you are displaying?
<ponyofdeath>
lrusak: playing youtube videos at 2k resolution
<lrusak>
You didn't really answer the question 🙂
<ponyofdeath>
AR: shows as 1,78
<ponyofdeath>
my resolution on the gui is 4k
<ponyofdeath>
the video is 1920x1080
<ponyofdeath>
at AR 1.78
<lrusak>
So are you at 4096x2060 or 3840x2160?
<ponyofdeath>
3840x2160
<ponyofdeath>
sorry no GUI is at 4096x2160
<ponyofdeath>
30 FPS
<lrusak>
Well that makes sense then
<ponyofdeath>
should i lower resolution then?
<ponyofdeath>
to 3084x2160p
<lrusak>
Or just enable refresh rate switching
<ponyofdeath>
ok thanks!
<lrusak>
And enable the whitelist so 1080p content plays at 1080p resolution
<ponyofdeath>
so settings for video playback to "Adjust display refresh rate"?
<lrusak>
Yes
<ponyofdeath>
where is whitelist setting
<lrusak>
System -> display
<ponyofdeath>

Is there a way to manually connect to a wifi network? The one I want to connect to is not listed

<mack->
CoJaBo: conf file in /storage/.cache/connman. Or if you don't want to edit/make a file, turn off hidden SSID on your AP for a few minutes while you connect.
<CoJaBo>
mack-: The SSID isn't hidden; apparently it's too long. Never once had a device that had a length-limit on SSIDs, so that seems like a bug..
<mack->
IEEE standard is 32 characters, iirc
<CoJaBo>
mack-: The tool to manage it isn't installed and I can't install it.. how do I create the config file?
<CoJaBo>
It's 20 characters long, so not even close to the actual limit

<mack->
I typically edit files by ssh into the libreelec box
<CoJaBo>
mack-: Yeh, but the format is odd and doesn't seem to be documented anywhere
<mack->
your mileage may vary. I have never used wifi on LE or kodi :)
<mack->
the arch linux wiki documentation is more example-based than the dry debian man page, if that's more to your liking.
<mack->
someone who actually has experience with wifi in LE may be able to give specific guidance.
<CoJaBo>
mack-: Is SFTP/SSHFS not supported?
<mack->
not that I know of by default
<mack->
there is a default smb share available to /storage/.config, but not to .cache where you need.
<CoJaBo>
mack-: Ok; appreciate the help, but it looks like libreelec isn't gonna work for me unfortunately <_<

<CoJaBo>
mack-: Does libreelec have a way to set the "wifi regulatory domain"? OSMC seemingly does not, and this might be a harder problem to solve than setting up SMB or something, so now I'm back to looking at libreelec lol

CoJaBo look in the settings add-on under network .. "Set regulatory domain" can be fuond
<chewitt>
the tool for configuring the wifi connection from the console is "connmanctl"
