<noudle> so since the last widevine update my netflix stopped working, just had a look at the logs: InputStream Adaptive: Unable to load widevine shared library
<noudle> what i found from googleing was to either downgrade widevine or update kodi/libreelec but i have that update setting set to automatic
<noudle> on the other hand i never really got any update messages, what should i do now?
<noudle> im still kinda new to kodi

<noudle> im on LibreELEC 9.2.6 atm
<noudle> on a rpi4

<chewitt> downgrading widevine will work until 31/5 if Google does start deprecating things at that point (which is likely)
<chewitt> I think we will release some form of officially unofficial modified 9.2.6 image with the changes
<chewitt> I'd like to tag the image so we can see how popular widevine really is among the userbase
<noudle> ye ive read through it, thanks for the link
<noudle> i would really like to have such a build, or i might consider building it myself with the provided patches
<noudle> as i use libreelec on my rpi kinda like a smart tv C:
<noudle> if i build it myself how would i install it? just put it in /storage/.update/ and reboot?

<noudle> PROJECT=Rockchip DEVICE=RK3399 ARCH=arm UBOOT_SYSTEM=rock-pi-4 make image
<noudle> is this the one for rpi4 devices?
<noudle> (for building the images)

<chewitt> PROJECT=RPi DEVICE=RPi4 ARCH=arm make image
<chewitt> You'll need to checkout the libreelec-9.2 branch, then apply the patch
<chewitt> the patch is for LE10 but should backport to LE9.2

<noudle> ah okay, was not sure if the patch is applied by the build system or if i'd need to do it manually
<noudle> also i just ran out of space in my vm lol
<noudle> how much is needed for the build?
rubdos has quit [Quit: WeeChat 3.0.1]
<noudle> had like 15GB free space
<chewitt> du -sh on a current (LE10) build folder here is 23GB
<chewitt> and that's excluding space for sources
<noudle> oh god :D
<noudle> okay good to know
<noudle> then i'll resize my vm later and try again
<chewitt> and space for LE build-system, although that's not so large
<chewitt> I have fuzzy memory of using 40GB/image for sizing concurrent space for the project build servers
<r0bert> uff, you guys chatting here reminded me to check LE's news section and i can see it has been busy for the past few months with LE10.0 somewhat around the corner
<r0bert> thank you for your work \o/

<r0bert> stupid question: where would i find a list of all addons that have already been ported to py3 and are compatible with kodi19/LE10?
<chewitt> r0bert https://kodi.tv/addons/matrix/ covers what's in the Kodi repo
<chewitt> Amazon/Netflix are also present (outside the repo)
<r0bert> so far i only care for soundcloud and youtube ;)
<r0bert> but thx!
<chewitt> both of those work (at least for me)
<noudle> chewitt: maybe dumb but how do i apply that patch=?
<noudle> in there some files are described but i cant see them in the source code

<chewitt> currently running a build test of the branch
<chewitt> off to the beach in a minute so will find out if it worked in 3-4 hours time when I get back
<chewitt> I have no plans to start using 9.2.6 again, so when it finishes I'm happy to share the image and let someone else see if it works :)

<noudle> the beach uff.. sounds nice
<noudle> so it is enough to put the .patch file in the proper dir?
<noudle> ah nice ty :) (still letting my build run to see if it runs through hehe)
<noudle> so not sure but will using this to update preserve all my addons and settings?
<noudle> like i have a few docker containers
<noudle> running on there too
<chewitt> if you're going from 9.2.6 there are no real changes other than the widevine bits
<noudle> okay good :)
<chewitt> I picked a couple of minor fixes into the settings add-on, but that's all
<noudle> thanks, working really good :D
<chewitt> the widevine bits?
<r0bert> let's assume i wanted to make trying out LE10b3 my weekend thingie for today
<r0bert> and i only have 1 sd-card which is currently in my rpi4
<r0bert> would it work if i used balena etcher to create an image of the card with it's current installation to keep as a "backup/go-back" option?
<r0bert> i.e. 1.) take image of old installation on sd-card 2.) put new image onto sd-card 3.) in case i wanted to go back put backup from #1
<chewitt> these days you can get an 8GB or 16GB SD card in a corner shop
<GNU\colossus> taking a blockwise copy/dump of your card with dd (or equivalent) sure makes for an effective backup
<chewitt> (inexpensively)
<GNU\colossus> but yeah, I would just buy a second card in addition to that
<chewitt> or you can use a USB stick
<chewitt> I personally never bother backing up with card images .. the content of the card in a .tar file is quicker/easier
