<diederik>
ah! that's very likely the issue!
<diederik>
I do have that one on my pc, but not on LE ...
<diederik>
w00t!
<lrusak>
Nice
<diederik>
that module is described in the Network Receiving part, but not the Sending part, where it should also be mentioned. (apparently it's not loaded by default, the -publish is)
<diederik>
I have now LE connected to my AVR and that works awesome
<diederik>
There's only 1 (slight) issue and that is that my AVR breaks HDR, while both Rock64 and my TV support that
<diederik>
So the idea I'm trying out is connecting LE to my TV which send the audio to my other Rock64 device which is connected to my AVR. That should, theoretically, give me the best of both worlds :)
<lrusak>
It's been a long time since I wrote the pulseaudio article and maybe it got messed up when we changed to use gitbooks docs
<lrusak>
Why not just use a spdif cable from your tv to your AVR?
<lrusak>
Pulseaudio is going to resample everything most likely and there will be a delay
<diederik>
I think that the spdiff only does stereo and ARC does as well
<lrusak>
My tv can pass through DTS and ac3
<diederik>
It may turn out that it (indeed) won't work (properly) with PA, but I've got to try.
<lrusak>
You won't get that with pulseaudio networked audio
<diederik>
if you have E-ARC, then you/I would be able to, but mine (apparently) doesn't support that
<lrusak>
I would test to make sure
<lrusak>
Because I'm in the same situation as you, no 4k hdr reciever
<diederik>
it's actually a pretty nice tv, but not an expensive one. And this is/was my first 'modern' TV. Had a very old one for a long time :)
<diederik>
The other reason I want (to try) this, is that I don't want to (have to) buy a new AVR just because a new format has come out
<lrusak>
Well, it won't be any different because pulseaudio has to have the decoded audio in order to send it across the network, which means no passthrough
<diederik>
I have made sure that my tv only has the old ARC.
<lrusak>
Even if your tv has to send pcm that is likely better
<diederik>
I have found a setting for *input* audio format, but not output.
<lrusak>
Does your reciever show when it recieves DTS or ac3?
<diederik>
it does for DTS, but not for AC3.
<diederik>
my AVR does support DTS, but apparently not AC3. I've configured kodi to passthrough the formats my AVR supports (DTS/TrueHD/DTS-HD_
<lrusak>
Ac3 is Dolby digital
<diederik>
Yeah, but apparently my AVR doesn't support DD or DDP
<lrusak>
I find that hard to believe if it supports TrueHD
<diederik>
It's got the logo for it on the AVR (Pioneer SC-1224)
<diederik>
which kodi/LE nicely detects :)
<lrusak>
Can you show a debug log from Kodi?
<diederik>
Likely, but that will be 'tomorrow' (it's 2:27 here)
<diederik>
I'm actually trying to mimic all the things from LE, because it actually does 'everything' right (but I can't install mpd f.e. on it)
<lrusak>
No worries, just curious
<diederik>
I'm too. It's been daunting, but a fun and learnful experience :)
<diederik>
I've learned to compile my own kernel, but a crucial step in getting multi-channel to work, was using 'your' HDMI.conf file. It only is always 7.1 channels, not only when the source actually has that. So I need to figure out if I can improve on that too
<lrusak>
alsa confs are tough
<diederik>
Yeah, they are. I actually don't understand how they're supposed to work.
<diederik>
Just copying over LE's HDMI.conf was just a blind shot in the dark ... which turned out exceptionally well :D
<diederik>
I first tried to do it with a RPi3, but that has been pure frustration. And there I didn't know if it *could* work at all.
<diederik>
When I 'switched' over to the Rock64, where LE had proved it could work, things became a lot more enjoyable.
<diederik>
Still a (big) challenge for me though, but lots of friendly and helpful ppl (on irc) :)
<diederik>
lrusak: what do you want me to do when I turn on debug logging? And can I turn off the screen overlay (with mem/cpu usage)?
<lrusak>
Enable debug logging, restart Kodi, grab the log
<lrusak>
Then you can disable and do whatever
<diederik>
Rebooted and started to watch an episode of 'House': ix.io/3mIA
<diederik>
'enjoy' I'm off to (properly) watch the episode and then zzz o/

That's what I noticed too. I could very well be reading things into it that I'd like to see, but it seems like it mostly confirms what I said, only that DD/AC3 and DDP/EAC3 should also be supported

i added the linuxserverio repo for the docker images and "installed" the letsencrypt one over the repo. it boots up fine but nginx does not start, even after a day of waiting (as the desc hints the first boot could take more than one hour)
<noudle>
there are some processes like 's6-svscan -t0 /var/run/s6/services ' and 'foreground if /etc/s6/init/init-stage2-redirfd foreground if if s6-echo -n --' which really look weird..
<noudle>
and running nginx by hand gives 'nginx: [alert] detected a LuaJIT version which is not OpenResty's; many optimizations will be disabled and performance will be compromised' and 'nginx: [error] lua_load_resty_core failed to load the resty.core module from https://github.com/openresty/lua-resty-core; ensure you are using an OpenResty release from https://openresty.org/en/download.html (rc: 2, reason: module 'resty.c

ore' not found:'
<lrusak>
Is the container not running or is nginx not reachable?
<noudle>
not sure how much i can change inside of the docker image and how much gets reverte by the updates
<noudle>
container is running and i can login to the container when ssh'ed into my libreelec box
<noudle>
but nginx is not starting and thus no webserver
<lrusak>
Can you check the container logs
<lrusak>
What is special about this letsencrypt container?
<noudle>
it has tls
<noudle>
without self signed cert
<lrusak>
Did you setup the domain and everything that is required?
<noudle>
you mean logs at /config/log/nginx/ ?
<noudle>
yeah i did
lolek has quit [Quit: Leaving.]
<lrusak>
Just check docker logs
<noudle>
where are they? (sorry not that used to docker)
<lrusak>
It's a command
<noudle>
ah i guess i see the issue.. i configured different ports for http and https but the letsencrypt http challenge picks up the wrong one
<noudle>
df23386abd13 linuxserver/letsencrypt:latest "/init" About an hour ago Up 3 minutes 0.0.0.0:8081->80/tcp, 0.0.0.0:7777->443/tcp letsencrypt
<noudle>
but both ports seem to be not reachable even in local net
<noudle>
also nmap scanned it they just are closed
<lrusak>
Are you using the default firewall?
<noudle>
at least i never changed any firewall setting
<lrusak>
You may need to change or disable the default firewall
<lrusak>
Does it work locally if you curl 0.0.0.0:8081

<lrusak>
does netstat -nlp show anything?
<noudle>
inside the container?
<noudle>
on the libreelec box i can see it listening on both ports
<noudle>
i guess its just nginx that cant be started inside the container and thus the rest fails too
