<k-man> i read that the update to the next version of libreelec, it is not recommended to "upgrade" but to install fresh
<k-man> does that mean I'll lose all settings and history? is there some way to migrate that?
<lrusak> Use the backup/restore function in the LE settings
<lrusak> It's just recommended but yea, prepare a backup if you have stuff worth keeping
<k-man> righto thanks lrusak
<k-man> should i consider using beta2?
<k-man> or wait for stable
<lrusak> What platform?
<k-man> rpi3b
<lrusak> You can try, but read the release notes
<k-man> ok
<lrusak> No deinterlacing is a big difference for that platform
<k-man> oh...
<k-man> not sure i understand the implications of that
<k-man> wait, do you mean release notes for libreelec or kodi?
<lrusak> Do you watch interlaced content?
<lrusak> Release notes for libreelec
<k-man> to be honest, i have no idea
<lrusak> Mostly just live tv
<lrusak> But it varies by region
<k-man> ah i see - then probably not
<lrusak> Best thing to do may be to just try the new version on a spare sd card
<k-man> good idea :)

<mack-> I'm confused by Pi4 boot behavior with a freshly written SD card with LibreELEC-RPi4.arm-9.2.6.img.gz. I'm testing with a Pi4 I've configured the firmware to boot from USB if no SD card detected. I had a spare SD card with RPi OS on. Tested it in the Pi with no USB connected, and booted into Raspbian np. Overwrote that SD with LE image, and it's behaving like I've powered it on with no SD card or USB drive installed.
<mack-> I've written the card with LE's usb-sd creator and rufus. I've deleted all partitions and formatted blank space and r/w successful. Reimaged and Pi still refusing to boot with same behavior.
<mack-> Anyone have any suggestions?
<mack-> well, it's just suddenly deciding to not power up with the same power brick. Switched to another power supply, and it's booting fine. I guess disregard.
<mack-> Same power brick I've been running LE on with that same Pi. Booting with fewer peripherals now with fresh SD.. weird it's refusing to boot.

<diederik> lrusak: status update: I connected LE Rock64 to TV and rerouted sound to PA connected to AVR. I did not notice any sound delay and things appear to have worked as I wanted it.
<diederik> Enthousiastically I got my 'surround' speakers from storage (previously I only had 2 speakers connected, but AVR showed it received all channels), connected them to AVR and used a mic to automatically set all my speakers up properly.
<diederik> And around that time, things got haywire. I've now also reconnected LE Rock64 back to AVR, but while 'aplay -l' still show the output as before, 'pactl list card' is empty/error msg with LE and my other device does show something, but only with a stereo option, no more surround 5.1 or 7.1. And with my other device I used to see the login prompt on my TV, that no longer happens
<diederik> While both previous recognized my AVR (SC-1224), neither of them do so anymore.
<diederik> So while I had initial success, I'm now further from what I want then ever before. I _think_ I'll have to go through my AVR's manual in detail and *hope* that I'll figure out how to reconfigure it so it (once again) does what I want with it. I'll probably be a long ride ...
<diederik> My AVR is supposed to support all the 'pass-through' formats, but only DD and DTS seem to work. So I have even more to learn ... on more fronts than initially ;-P
