<BorgCuba> Hello, is there a guide to install all the bootloaders and linux to NAND that applies to s905?
<BorgCuba> I like to try to build everything and then install it directly into NAND
<BorgCuba> And I want to install via USB

<BorgCuba> asdf28, do you know how the boot procedure for s905 works? From the datasheet it seem that eMMC and NAND both precede booting from sd-card and usb. I wonder if uboot looks for files on the SDC
<asdf28> sorry, i am not familiar at all with it
<asdf28> it's one of the things i have not touched yet, as it seems very complicated

<BorgCuba> okay, will have a look at the s905 uboot code
<asdf28> for example, i don't understand where it's booting from when the emmc is deleted
<asdf28> i mean, not booting
<asdf28> but it can still accept firmware using the USB tool
<asdf28> but yes, the normal booting process seems to be it's booting from the uboot that's installed with android
<asdf28> and this then boots from an sd card if there is one
<asdf28> when i was trying to figure out how the reboot from an SD card works
<asdf28> but i don't know if this is the uboot that my android image uses

<asdf28> i also have no idea how to get the uboot source code that corresponds to a specific android version. as far as i understand, it's in the android SDK from amlogic, but that's not publicly available
<BorgCuba> asdf28, so you say the actual commands are stored in nand/emmc
cmeerw has quit [Ping timeout: 264 seconds]
<asdf28> no, i don't know
<asdf28> by actual commands you mean uboot?
<asdf28> as far as i understood it: board firmware loads uboot from eMMC, uboot determines the boot mode (cold boot, reboot, recovery reboot etc) and depending on that, checks if an sd card or usb memory is present and then loads the operating system from it

<asdf28> this is the interesting part
<asdf28> there it also determines what to do when the reset button is held (go to update)
<BorgCuba> asdf28, interesting
<BorgCuba> thanks for pointing me there
<BorgCuba> I have to leave, bye
