libv: how full is it still?
<libv>
half-full now
<libv>
so all is well, but we definitely need to make this partition like 10-16GB
<libv>
it's a matter of time before this happens again, always, but that time should be measured in years, not in weeks/months :)

is there no mechanism to have APT remove an older kernel when a newer one is installed? (to have max "N" kernels on your systems, for arbitrary N)
<libv>
not as standard it seems
<libv>
perhaps cronned emails when more than 3 kernels are installed is a good solution

hmm does anyone have an idea how I could generate fex from adb. I found out that the boot partition is supposed to be /dev/block/nandc but I am unable to mount it
<jelle>
and /dev/block/nanda does not contain the kernel etc

<bmeneg>
hello everyone, I built a custom linux LiveSuit image from scratch using the tools from https://github.com/cubieboard2/manifests but now I would like to change the original nand partition table, which has 5 partitions: "bootloader", "env", "boot", "rootfs" and "UDISK". I know there is the sys_partition.fex file and when I change it removing "env" partition the new image boots normally, but once I try to remove "boot" from sys_partition.fex file the boo
<bmeneg>
t1 just crashes with an "bad magic" error. Does anyone have any idea where I must change the configurations to remove this partition?
<bmeneg>
I know there is a way because archlinux-sunxi-nand image has just "bootloader" (nanda), "rootfs" (nandb) and "UDISK" (nandc).

jelle: Does your device have root access? If so, I've had success directly dumping the various NANDs with: adb pull /dev/block/nandc ./nandc.img
<dvddpl>
Then you can safely play around with the image from a PC
<jelle>
dvddpl: let me see
<jelle>
dvddpl: hmm but how do I make a fex file of it
<dvddpl>
jelle: Sadly, I do not know. :( I just started with Allwinner stuff a few days ago.
<jelle>
hehe ;)
<jelle>
same here
<dvddpl>
jelle: Were you able to dump nandc?
<jelle>
well I know how to make dts files. but I don't really know how to start of fresh hehe ;)

will solder serial on this tablet hopefully tommorow

I was sent a singing greeting card type thing, only with 512mb of ram and a F1E200 CPU and a high resolution TFT display. Obviouly I want to boot linux on this thing, has anybody got linux on a F1E200 device yet?
<jelle>
hmm can it be that some android images do not have a script.bin?
<tyho>
NiteHawk: I don't have much experiance with this sort of stuff but I am a developer, how realistic is it for me to attempt to boot linux on this? I am prepared to work for a good few months on weekends for it
<NiteHawk>
tyho: see http://irclog.whitequark.org/linux-sunxi/2013-04-09#3491509 and on. documentation on F1E200 seems between sparse and non-existant, and unless you happen to find some 'official' SDK from Allwinner, i'd say you're in for a lot of trouble
akaizen has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<NiteHawk>
it's also well possible that thing doesn't run u-boot or anything remotely linux, but Allwinner's proprietary "melis" RTOS instead
<tyho>
NiteHawk: the device I have has a reed switch so it powers on when the card is opened
<tyho>
it boots suspiciously fast
<tyho>
for it to be anything remotly linux, in my experiance anyway
<tyho>
so even u-boot is not going to work out the box?
_BJFreeman is now known as BJfreeman
<NiteHawk>
i have no idea. from what i could pick up from a few descriptions of similar devices on the net, it seems at least there's no u-boot used by default
