is there any documentation on how to configure pullups for the gpios when using mainline?

you have to use the pinctrl dt nodes

montjoie_: DMA has never been a guarantee of performances
<mripard>
it's even often the opposite, with DMA being slower than the CPU to transfer data
<Net147>
mripard: I am trying to set pull up on a GPIO in the DTS and use it through /sys/class/gpio. can you see any issues? http://pastebin.com/gvXFdGpY
<mripard>
Net147: it looks fine, but you'll have to have a device grabing that node for the configuration to be applied
<Net147>
mripard: is there a dummy device I can use? if a device is grabbing the node then wouldn't trying to export it via /sys/class/gpio fail?
<mripard>
no
<mripard>
this is a pinctrl node, not a gpio one.
<mripard>
and you can make the pinctrl device grab that node

<wens>
having the pinctrl device grab its own pins... would that result in a chicken and egg problem...

I mean how to deal with it, if we don't have datasheet
<wens>
vishnup: simply put, you can't
<wens>
a datasheet or reference driver is crucial for these things, unless you want to accidentally break your device

poking allwinner about updating the A83T datasheet/manual with an actual description about DE2.0 may be a good idea as well

wens: Thanks for your reply earlier today. You wrote, DMA is only used by uart/spi/crypto/audio. What about USB and Ethernet? The A20 manual also mentions USB and Ethernet in the register descriptions for the DMA engine. I'm not used to reading datasheets, so maybe I get it all wrong. But can USB and Ethernet make use of the DMA driver as well?

simosx: the new up to date mali blob is hypothetically interesting if only if we want to make it work with the mainline kernel
<ssvb>
simosx: because the newer blob has also a matching newer kernel driver (with devicetree support, etc.)
<simosx>
ssvb, I now have a good idea on the licence text issue. Thanks.
<simosx>
ssvb, regarding the mali blob: Is there interest to make it work with the mainline kernel? We need to describe well what is needed, and it should be something that many people will benefit from.
<ssvb>
simosx: it was just a question about the mali blob and the mainline kernel asked by Net147 here
