<rellla>
msevwork: nevertheless is this no armbian support channel nor the right place to discuss these things.

indeed

rant stopped :)

thank you!

feels, that all should generally be a bit more consequent in respecting the topic. not excluding armbian topics but slowing down distribution specific topics ...
<rellla>
it got better again, though

meh why just dev talk
<msevwork>
its not like a closed password protected irc channel
<msevwork>
lol
<msevwork>
oh. so i will ask a relevant question
<msevwork>
tell me step by step on how to configure the orange pi zero fex so that i will be able to use the gpios
<plaes>
there's a page in wiki
<msevwork>
with the pya20 or what is that python lib for gpio's supposed to work
<msevwork>
its badly written
<msevwork>
i don't understand what i need to do
<msevwork>
i don't get a default fex there
<msevwork>
dunno how i should configure it
<msevwork>
there should be one page with default fex's for all boards
<plaes>
most of us do not use sunxi-3.4 anymore :(
<rellla>
msevwork: we just had a time, where i felt, that 50% of the log was armbian user support. not that i want to condemn that...
<msevwork>
thats because there is no "kind-soul" on the armbian forum which would explain these stuff to us noobs
<msevwork>
i'm limited to buying just the H3 oranges because those "work out of the box"
<msevwork>
i can't buy a H2+ pi zero because i dunno how to set up gpio, i2c, spi
<jelle>
and that's our problem? :p
<ErwinH>
You bought an cheap board and expect A-grade support, for free! If you want support buy a raspberry pi.
<ErwinH>
But in the meantime is the support for the H5 nicely progressing!
<msevwork>
nice
<msevwork>
i didn't buy OPi0 yet
<msevwork>
but why do you guys code if you don't want users to use it
<msevwork>
are you just gonna have it for yourselves
<msevwork>
the thing about opensource is that actual users use it
<msevwork>
not just developers
<ErwinH>
msevwork: Let's move to the armbian channel.

then how do i use it with mainline?
<msevwork>
can you help me with that?

<plaes>
use gpio with mainline?
<MoeIcenowy>
mainline sysfs can use gpio
<plaes>
well, for both sunxi-3.4 and mainline there's a wiki page
<scelestic>
just wanted to mention that as well, there's a full wiki page on how to do gpio
<msevwork>
sorry guys but I got fed up with this tkaiser guy and i vented some steam in here :)..i will go to armbian channel now :D. again sorry (just wanted a little information)
<msevwork>

was the gpio an armbian specific problem? i don't want to resist on dev-only talk... because then it would be very quite as most of it happens via ml.

is also very often talking about non-dev-only topics :)

I'm reading tkaisers 'how to reduce power consumption' posts and he mentions that disabling the display/HDMI will increase available memory BW--which is logical. But lead me to wonder "If the display is blanked or nothing is attached, does the display engine still user memory BW?" Does anyone know or should I try testing?
<willmore>
If it does still use memory BW when blanked, would it be possible to alter the way the display engine is configured so as to stop doing so when the display is disconnected or blanked?
