<smaeul> A64 BROM references memory locations 0x00045a00 and 0x00045a04... I assume I'd have to RE the arisc firmware to find out what they do?
<smaeul> unless anyone recognizes them
<smaeul> nvm, figured it out
<Hao> MoeIcenowy: The uboot(branch r40-fix)for R40 needs to be seeded with boot0 ?
<Hao> refrence from http://linux-sunxi.org/Mainline_U-Boot#Determine build target
<Hao> it seem doesnt work...
<MoeIcenowy> Hao: nope
<MoeIcenowy> it contains SPL
<MoeIcenowy> and r40-fix now has no fix ;-)
<MoeIcenowy> you can just use mainline

<smaeul> on A64, LCJS bit 6 controls DMA_MODE_REG(0) for SPI boot: 0 sets it to 0x0c, 1 sets it to 0x00; bit 7 does something similar for a different boot device, but also overrides LCJS_CUSTOM_DMA_WAIT (sets it to 0 in the DMA descriptor)
<smaeul> also, BROM sets SRAM at 0x00045a04 to 0/1 depending on if LCJS bit 3 is set
<smaeul> I guess those should be documented on the wiki
<smaeul> oh, and A64 and H5 boot from SDC2/NAND in different orders (H5 has SDC2 before NAND, A64 has it after), but since they use the same pins, it doesn't really affect boot order
<smaeul> er, no, the boot order actually does change. A64 goes SDC0→NAND→eMMC→SDC2→SPI0→FEL and H5 goes SDC0→eMMC→SDC2→NAND→SPI0→FEL as far as I can tell
<MoeIcenowy> eMMC is SDC2, right?
<smaeul> there's one function that gets called twice, once with parameter 0 and then with 2, so that's clearly sd card
<smaeul> I've analyzed the entire SPI driver, so I know which that is (plus it's last)
jernej has joined #linux-sunxi
<smaeul> the other two are less clear: the NAND driver is from ~0x3200 to ~0x5200, which I know is the NAND driver because it references the NFDC registers
<smaeul> the two functions I have labeled "load_from_sdcard" and "load_from_emmc" are right next to each other, and call several of the same helpers
<smaeul> so, yes, eMMC and SDC2 share the controller/pins, but there's a separate function for loading from each

<MoeIcenowy> jernej: hello
<jernej> MoeIcenowy: Hi
<MoeIcenowy> did you see my words about R40 TCON_TOP?
<jernej> a day or two back?
<MoeIcenowy> maybe a few more days ago
<MoeIcenowy> my memory is not so clear now ;-)
<jernej> I was at work, so I just briefly read it
<jernej> let me re-read it again
<jernej> MoeIcenowy: Only those 5 lines https://irclog.whitequark.org/linux-sunxi/2017-08-30#20054146; ?
victhor has quit [Ping timeout: 252 seconds]
<MoeIcenowy> yes
<MoeIcenowy> P.S. it also proved one of my assumptions on H3/5
<MoeIcenowy> the channel1 clock of TCON1 is from the TVE
<miasma> how bad is this atm? http://linux-sunxi.org/Linux_mainlining_effort#Merged_into_4.13 " dwmac-sun8i ethernet driver Unfinished due to unstable DT binding"
<jernej> I never studied R40 in detail
<jernej> miasma: Driver is still there but all DT bits were reverted
<miasma> and it won't be fixed in 4.14 or anytime soon?
<jernej> I guess it will be in next release
<jernej> It is not so much programming issue than architectural
<miasma> onboard ethernet still seemed to work in 4.13-rc7, apparently the final release won't have it?
<MoeIcenowy> montjoie: is it possible to get A64/A83T EMAC support back in 4.14?
<jernej> wait, network driver for H3 and newer SoC was never in any stable or RC kernel yet
<MoeIcenowy> (Although I hope we can also get H3/5,V3s support ;-)
<miasma> jernej: not true. i currently run 4.13-rc7 on my opi pc and it has ethernet support
<jernej> which distro?
<MoeIcenowy> jernej: it's not in any stable
<MoeIcenowy> but it appeared in some 4.13-rc
<miasma> jernej: kernel from kernel.org
<MoeIcenowy> because the DT binding is not stable
<miasma> it seems to have some issues, it gets stuck here from time to time
<MoeIcenowy> they decided to revert them for 4.13 stable
<miasma> wait few seconds and it works again
<jernej> anyway, DT bits won't be in stable
<jernej> MoeIcenowy: HDMI pink line issue is driving me crazy
<MoeIcenowy> oh the screens owned by me are too low-resolution that they cannot trigger this bug :-(
<jernej> if I put reset assert/reassert in driver, it works at first ok, but if I do resolution change, it still showsž
<jernej> it is not resolution issue
<jernej> on DVI it doesn't appear
<jernej> it must be proper HDMI screen
victhor has joined #linux-sunxi
<jernej> I have full HD screen which works at first and after resolution change it shows pink line on 1024x768
<MoeIcenowy> can you now check whether the bug is in dw-hdmi or in aw phy?
<jernej> all registers have same value
<jernej> in both cases, e.g when pink line is shown and when not
<MoeIcenowy> but the pink line is showed in changed 1024x768, not initial 1024x768?
<jernej> correct
<MoeIcenowy> P.S. will the re-configuration of the controller trigger this bug?
<MoeIcenowy> (configured by U-Boot then re-configured in Linux
<jernej> yes
<jernej> except if you assert reset line before deasserting
<MoeIcenowy> So I didn't trigger this bug just because my screen is in DVI mode?
<jernej> I went through all differences with BSP driver and none of the difference matter
<MoeIcenowy> P.S. I think this maybe a bug in the dw-hdmi?
<MoeIcenowy> as I think in DVI/HDMI the PHY doesn't make any difference
<jernej> may be
<jernej> I think it is older revision
<MoeIcenowy> try to reproduce it with a board with also dw-hdmi v1.32?
<jernej> what board?
<MoeIcenowy> I don't know
<MoeIcenowy> :-(
<MoeIcenowy> I only know the sunxi one in H3/A64/H5 is v1.32
<jernej> I have RK3288 board, but it has newer revision of dw-hdmi IIRC
<jernej> maybe I can try to find some contact trough maintainers of dw-hdmi
<MoeIcenowy> imx6 seems to use old version
<MoeIcenowy> oh this says magenta line
<MoeIcenowy> it may be interesting to read whole series
<willmore> magenta could be mistaken for pink
<jernej> nice catch
<MoeIcenowy> in fact I think the word used depends on people ;-)
* willmore is colorblind and hence does not have an opinion
<MoeIcenowy> there's no a standard that standardizes the color sense of our brain ;-)
<MoeIcenowy> so magenta = pink in this situation
<KotCzarny> pantone ;)
<KotCzarny> how about salmon?
<willmore> Agreed, but colorblindness usually mean an inability to distinguish similar colors that a 'normal' person could distinguish. So, that's a functional definition.
<MoeIcenowy> yes
<willmore> So, if 'pink' and 'magenta' are similar, it's not unexpected for a colorblind person to not be able to distinguish them when a normal person could. But, if the normal person couldn't, then it's not the fault of the colorblindness.
<lurchi__> 0xff00ff ;-)
<KotCzarny> or with cheap screen ;)
<willmore> That said, colorblind people often can distinguish between colors that normal people can't, so that complicates things.... Okay, I'll stop.
<willmore> lurchi__, but if it's a 6 bit per color channel, 0xff00ff and 0xfc00fc will look the same.
<lurchi__> MoeIcenowy: dvi (single-link) is hdmi without infoframes
<MoeIcenowy> jernej: I think it's currently workarounded in dw_hdmi_clear_overflow()
<MoeIcenowy> try to add a case 0x132a in it ;-)
<jernej> thanks, I will soon
Hao_ has quit [Quit: Leaving]
<jernej> the other issue I have is hdmi sound
<jernej> just yesterday I found out that sound doesn't work at all if U-Boot has no video support compiled in
<jernej> something to work on
<MoeIcenowy> I think maybe the kernel didn't meet a v1.32a controller before sun8i-dw-hdmi ;-)
<MoeIcenowy> so they only dealt with v1.30a and v1.31a in i.MX
<MoeIcenowy> since the version numbers are all prefixed "v1.3" I think v1.32a should also has this bug ;-)
Hao has joined #linux-sunxi
<jernej> MoeIcenowy: Now the question, how many iterations? I guess we can go with high number and lower it if necessary
<jernej> I mean iterations set in dw_hdmi_clear_overflow()
<MoeIcenowy> try ;-)
<MoeIcenowy> although I think 1 may be necessary -- as v1.32a is higher than v1.31a ;-)
LargePrime has joined #linux-sunxi
python476 has joined #linux-sunxi
<jernej> MoeIcenowy: That solved it! Big thanks!
<jernej> Although switching resolution from 1280x800 to 1920x1080 is unstable, but not if you change in some other resolution first
<jernej> but that is much less annoying than everpresent magenta line
<jernej> MoeIcenowy: One iteration seems enough
