<MoeIcenowy>
jernej: what do you mean by "switching resolution from 1280x800 to 1920x1080 is unstable" ?
<MoeIcenowy>
will add iteration to 4 solve this?

MoeIcenowy: Switching from 1280x800 to 1920x1080 causes image blinking. But I think this is only on one display, so it might be a monitor bug as well.
kaspter has joined #linux-sunxi
<jernej>
and no, 4 iterations doesn't change anything
<MoeIcenowy>
so test this transition on a PC?
<jernej>
good point
<MoeIcenowy>
So we are sure that the v1.32a version of DWC HDMI TX also suffers from this bug
aidin has joined #linux-sunxi
<MoeIcenowy>
like v1.30a and v1.31a
<jernej>
anyway, this is not actual monitor, just old laptop panel coupled to some hdmi converter from ebay
<jernej>
yes, we are sure
<MoeIcenowy>
some low-cost monitor solution ;-)

(The only time that I triggered this bug is using a eDP panel attached to some converter ;-)
<jernej>
so you noticed that?
<MoeIcenowy>
yes
<MoeIcenowy>
but I didn't cared it
<MoeIcenowy>
as the "monitor" is not mine ;-)
<jernej>
ok, I will check it today

jernej: still any HDMI audio issues left?
<MoeIcenowy>
I remember that you said that it only works under 1024x768?
<jernej>
yes, still is
<jernej>
it works when pixel clock < 65 MHz
<MoeIcenowy>
maybe PHY issue?
<jernej>
nope, since it works with BSP kernel
<jernej>
I checked PHY registers many times and they are always same between BSP and my driver
<jernej>
except some unreferenced registers

MoeIcenowy: I had solution for HDMI audio all along, but due to a bug we solved yesterday, it didn't work
<jernej>
MoeIcenowy: Now I have to make clean up and figure why sound is distorted, but all in all, it works
<jernej>
Distorsion solved :)
<KotCzarny>
'distortion'
<KotCzarny>
what was the cause?
<jernej>
ah, wrong I2S setting on HDMI side
<KotCzarny>
:)
<KotCzarny>
yeah, i find it weird they didnt make audio separate from video
<jernej>
who?
<KotCzarny>
standards group
<KotCzarny>
or hdmi inventors
<jernej>
well, if it is transported over same physical medium, I guess you really can't make them separate
<KotCzarny>
i was thinking about packeted stream similar to tcp/ip
<KotCzarny>
maybe udp
<jernej>
at least scheduler or something like that must be aware when to send which packet
<jernej>
timing is critical here
<KotCzarny>
packets could have timestamps
<KotCzarny>
but i guess it's simpler to design synchronous interface
<jernej>
I suppose it is
<jernej>
and I don't really have a clue why they did it that way
<jernej>
but I was wondering before exactly the same question

We've just realized it has (relatively) recently been removed from the defconfig, and have subsequently read some unreliability reports.

1024x600 I know for sure, but I forgot how much RAM it has... let me check

well, no need

okay then, in any case it does have 512MB, so I it's already documented?

nah.. I just googled and found it on AliExpress ;)

:) that's to be expected really
