<Ke>
let's assume you have a random tablet from the internet and you reflash the bootloader on it, what recovery measures can you use, if the bootloader is bad?
<lurchi__>
soldering iron
<Ke>
do allwinner SoC's have some hw recovery mode that can be triggered?
<Ke>
so no?
<KotCzarny>
boot from sdcard?
<KotCzarny>
read on fel too
<Ke>
I guess SD card boot requires me to somehow disable the eMMC for the bootup?
<KotCzarny>
no, on most devices so far sdcard has higher boot priority than everything else

montjoie: I'm not able confirm this. I was able to copy (with scp a ~2 GB big file from and to the bpi-m3). The bandwidth is low, but stable (~10MB/s). But it looks like that this is due to the missing smp/dvfs patches and the low frequency (during copy cpu load 100%).
<embed-3d>
I will check the boot log in detail tomorrow.

montjoie: I agree this is very _low_, but I think think this has to do with missing smp/dvfs and a low frequency of the cpu, because I have a cpu load of 100% during copying

isn't iperf sort of a 'best case'? In other words, if you can't get decent transfer with iperf, nothing else will do very well.

<ElBarto>
well I have the jack cut but I think some jumper needs to be switched on the motherboard no ?
<BenG83_>
there is a switch
<gnarface>
yes
<gnarface>
make sure you flip the right switch, mine had 3
<BenG83_>
your PB board had three switches?
<gnarface>
also someone had to remind me that you need to specify the LCD console *and* the serial console both independently on your kernel command-line
<anarsoul|2>
ElBarto: make sure that you get recent ATF
<gnarface>
yea, my powerbook had 3 switches inside. and *two* of them matched the verbal description of the expected location of the one that toggles the audio jack between serial and audio
<BenG83_>
I have one prototype PB where the mux was switched via GPIO
<dddddd>
anarsoul|2, I hacked the equivalente to that patch for the TERES-I. The Olimex docs tells to wait a bit betweeb two steps. How can I make that wait/sleep? (I'm printing to debug output expecting it's enough delay; it works but seems dirty)
<dddddd>
*between

anarsoul|2, great, thanks! somehow I missed that name while searching.
