<enyc> DocScrutinizer05: ;-( be nice to know whats going on hehe
<DocScrutinizer05> since I've put more debit on my already massively overdrawn individual health account to push this "jump ahead thing" as long as it was urgent and active, I'm now on a 2 weeks of health recovery mode. Alas it turns out 2 weeks are way too short to really restore my health I ruined during the last 3 years
<DocScrutinizer05> (know what's going on) a pity I must not talk about details
<enyc> fair enoughs
<DocScrutinizer05> I still hope this will revive eventually and mature to a state where I may announce something
<enyc> good luck
<enyc> hows' houkime hgetting on with layout?
<DocScrutinizer05> but for now I'm wasted, busted, at a medical and mental dead end
Chris__ has joined #neo900
<DocScrutinizer05> for houkime layout, please ask houkime. I don't even have the application to open his stuff right now
<DocScrutinizer05> maybe he can provide screenshots or somesuch

<houkime> About layout: Looks like it is possible to do things without a connector in the neck at the cost of one esd being moved to LOWER.
<houkime> Hall detector also fits if the HB is moved lower
<houkime> which is sort of possible however it is hard to predict the end usability.
<houkime> I was a little bit carried away recently though because I kind of need to evacuate from country.
<DocScrutinizer05> "HB moved lower"? what exactly do you mean by this?
<houkime> Sorry, not lower, "south", away from neck
<DocScrutinizer05> hackerbus connector position is fixed, it can't move
<DocScrutinizer05> at least I'm not aware of a reasonable option to move it to any other position than the one described in hb.pdf
<atk> now comes the impossible task of putting two things in the same place
<atk> solved many times before by many an engineer
<DocScrutinizer05> hmm?
<DocScrutinizer05> and p.8
<DocScrutinizer05> the distance from memory card holder is defined by the plastic shroud(?) of a possible HB plug connecting to the HB jack
<houkime> No, joerg, I move HB parralel to sd holder
<DocScrutinizer05> this is limited by case IIRC
<DocScrutinizer05> you need to cut out case to access the HB jack, and you can do this only on a few locations, at least reasonably
<houkime> I have measured case scans many times
<houkime> old and new place are eaquivalent
<houkime> They both requre cuts in plastic, but away from metal
<DocScrutinizer05> LTE and thus my VNC going down here, lightning storm (though no idea why and how this is related). BBL, maybe tomorrow
<houkime> ok then
<DocScrutinizer51> houkime: you need a real N900 for reference, let me know whan and where you could receive a parcel
<DocScrutinizer51> ~ping
<infobot> ~pong
<houkime> In the original there are two plastic shrouds that need to be taken into account. One is the postament between LOWER and BOB
<houkime> and the second one is the cover which shrouds both LOWER and BOB
<houkime> with orifice for SD card and such.
<houkime> As I understood, there will be no postament in neo900
<houkime> And mechanical coupling between LOWER and BOB will be done via 2 connectors.
<houkime> the shroud with an sd holder orifice doe snot allow for HB in vanilla and this orifice should be extended.
<houkime> the limiter for this extention is the edge of a metal battery holder thing
<houkime> which is simultaneously the limiter for BOB as a whole
<houkime> we can't cut this edge because this edge is there for coupling between metal and plastic parts of a shroud.
<houkime> it separates BOB from the part where plastic fingers are going through metal holes
<houkime> and keeping the thing together.
<houkime> When I extended the BOB I kept 0.3 mm from this edge.
<houkime> So as long as HB doesn't conflict with BOB edges everything should be fine. You will still need to cut a hole in the plastic, but that's it.
<houkime> this is the shroud that has an sd holder orifice in the bottom left
<houkime> to the right of the sd orifice is the metal edge.
<houkime> between this orifice and metal edge is the plastic field which has a recycling triangle on one of its sections.
<houkime> This plactic ares will be cut to shape to accomodate hb
<houkime> *plastic area
<houkime> it will retain around 0.3+1.2=1.5 mm of its width.
<houkime> the whole width of it is around 5.7 mm.
<houkime> And as far as I can reasonably suggest from dialogs with joerg this cannot be and won't be included in neo900.
<houkime> in the original postament holds bob in place, because bob is connected only by flex-pcb in vanilla
<houkime> also there's no indication of it in stacking in hb.pdf, so I assume it is not included.
<houkime> I can't realistically see any other constraints on bob.

<houkime> however there might be some constraints on hb based on usability requirement and ergonomics of it as a connector. This is a little bit hard to tackle since userboards are arbitrary.
<houkime> For example that plastic thing the will be cut is elevated above bob
<houkime> This obviously sets constraints on the male hackerbus connector, because it will need to elevate userboard above the plastic is the shroud is not removed.
<houkime> *if the shroud
wicket64 has joined #neo900
<houkime> The biggest problem with bob is esd protection right now. One additional concern of mine is that since neo900 is a tinkerphone, user can remove and plug bob back.
<houkime> and he does it obviously in unprotected environment.
<houkime> and also he might plug his userboard into bob while it is disconnected from LOWER.
<houkime> Aaand in any case it will be bad if sth fries
<houkime> You won't believe how my head is driving me crazy right now because of these things.
<houkime> gonna sleep.
<DocScrutinizer51> good night :)
