<mhc>
Hi folks.
brentmagma has joined #openwrt-devel
<mhc>
I'm a novice developer with a very minor but important change to the kernel config that I'd like to get into OpenWRT.
<PaulFertser>
mhc: what is it?
<mhc>
Thought I'd come here for advice before embarassing myself with a poorly submitted pull mrequest.
<PaulFertser>
mhc: the wiki gives elaborate recommendations for submissions
<mhc>
It's a single kernel config option CONFIG_FUSION_SAS=y
plntyk has joined #openwrt-devel
<mhc>
Without it, OpenWRT fails to boot on some VMWare configurations because it can't mount the rootfs.
<PaulFertser>
mhc: usually when changing defaults you're supposed to show what influence it has on the target image/kernel size.
<PaulFertser>
It's OpenWrt btw.
<PaulFertser>
mhc: for x86 it's not so essential to show the size impact
<mhc>
Aha. Well, I guess I can build with and without to demonstrate the difference. But in any case, it's only really relevant to the x86/64 target, and that's generally not memory or storage constrained to the degree other targets are.
<PaulFertser>
mhc: right
<mhc>
So it's just a single line to add to target/linux/x86/64/config-5.4and the testing kernel config target/linux/x86/64/config-5.10
<mhc>
But the first one should also be cherry-picked to the 21.02 branch.
<mhc>
I presume I should just submit the pull request as the changes to master?
<mhc>
And put a note in there asking for the change to be backported to 21.02?
<mhc>
I'm really new to this, still getting my head around how git works.
<mhc>
I guess this is a pretty late stage to try to get something into 21.02, but as it stops OpenWrt from booting on these systems, it can be regarded as a fairly serious bug.
<mhc>
Should I submit a bug report with the pull request? I mean, I already know the fix, but perhaps that is the proper way to get it picked up as urgent for the 21.02 release.

So my r7800 is now on Kernel 5.10 all seems to be running fine so far. One thing is that SQM is verry slow.
<Tapper>
My connection is 200 down and boosts up to 220. I set the download to 180000 in sqm and it drops my download to 115 mbps.

Hello. I got a problem making openwrt fw for target mt7621.
<legale>
build system is:
<legale>
Linux version 5.10.29-0-virt (buildozer@build-3-13-x86_64) (gcc (Alpine 10.2.1_pre1) 10.2.1 20201203, GNU ld (GNU Binutils) 2.35.1) #1-Alpine SMP Mon, 12 Apr 2021 15:48:39 UTC
<legale>
make log:
<legale>
Signing package index...
<legale>
bash: line 4: /home/ru/openwrt/staging_dir/host/bin/usign: No such file or directory
<legale>
bash: line 4: /home/ru/openwrt/staging_dir/host/bin/usign: No such file or directory
<legale>
For some reason there is no host usign. How to fix?
<legale>
I'm trying to build from master branch.

<Tapper>
But still slower then when running on Kernel 5.4
<Tapper>
Wifi is doing good tho. Just streemed a hole 90 mins football match with out a stutter

<victhor>
Is it possible to extract a "board.bin" for ath10k out of a ath_hal.ko driver? I have a device here who's stock firmware uses 2.6.32 kernel, and it has a QCA9882. The driver seems to have many of the weird patterns from a "board.bin" file, so I thought there might be something similar there
<victhor>
I'd like to try and see if this does anything to RF performance on this device. It seems pretty good right now, with the default ath10k files, though.
