<robmur01> HdkR: heh, although not technically the NIC - the LEDs are controlled autonomously by the external Realtek phy ;)
<HdkR> Sure, that's another way of looking at it

<alyssa> Has anyone experienced a RockPro64 that fails to boot?
<alyssa> while on the subject of buggy LEDs
<alyssa> indicator lights come on, but no output on HDMI
<alyssa> can't tell if h/w or s/w
<alyssa> USB ports are getting powered, though.
<robmur01> without UART output it's hard to tell
<robmur01> there are many many points at which and reasons why things might fall over
<alyssa> yeah :|
<robmur01> e.g. is it even loading a kernel or just stuck in U-Boot?
<alyssa> right, right
<nhp[m]> If you build upstream uboot for it you might be able to get display while uboot is running
<nhp[m]> from what I could tell from the source, it should support HDMI on rk3399
<robmur01> it does, although last time I looked, enabling display in U-Boot came at the cost of breaking things in Linux (I think it was doing something weird with the clocks)
<robmur01> works OK on RK3288 though
<nhp[m]> there's the same issue on the PBP
<nhp[m]> if you have display support enabled in u-boot the kernel only boots sometimes if you're running 5.5 or up
<nhp[m]> or rather, sometimes it crashes when loading rockchipdrm and co., other times it doesn't
