<bbrezillon> macc24: I guess it was not working with my kernel either
<bbrezillon> I had it working at some point, so maybe bisect between fefb3e9b7008..HEAD
<bbrezillon> and by working I mean, kmscube was working, and weston too, but with visual artifacts
stikonas has quit [Remote host closed the connection]

<macc24> bbrezillon: fefb3e9b7008 where?
<bbrezillon> mesa
<bbrezillon> start with that and the old kernel
<bbrezillon> if it works, you can then try the old mesa with a new kernel
<bbrezillon> and if it keeps working, bisect the regression in mesa
<macc24> okay
_whitelogger has joined #panfrost
<macc24> bbrezillon: old mesa + new kernel = working
<macc24> wait nvm it was using llvmpipe
italov has quit [Ping timeout: 246 seconds]
popolon has joined #panfrost
<macc24> old kernel + old mesa = working, new kernel + old mesa = broken
<macc24> and in most[citation needed] cases i can launch kmscube few times, then it breaks
<macc24> there's no graphical glitches on old kernel + old mesa

<macc24> vsram_gpu: disabling
<macc24> this line looks suspicious to me
<bbrezillon> it does
<macc24> yeah i slapped a little regulator-always-on; onto mt6358_vsram_gpu_reg and it seems to have helped

<macc24> yeah panfrost on g72 works good enough for some firefox on a chromebook(firefoxbook?) https://i.imgur.com/LPSZ9Wd.jpg
<alyssa> Firebook sounds cyberpun
<alyssa> cyberpunk
<alyssa> macc24: ooi what'd you have to do to make it work?
<macc24> it turns out that disabling sram on a gpu is bad
<alyssa> Ah.
<alyssa> It seems like we've been needing more of these hacks lately.
<alyssa> RK3288/RK3399 has always just worked™️ from a kernel perspective..
<macc24> i've noticed that touch pressure to register finger is too high on duet's keyboard in libinput, and sound is probably missing, it6505 driver needs fixing too
<daniels> macc24: nice! guess the MTK DT bindings just need updating to actually link the GPU and regulator
<macc24> and mainline-mainline linux needs dsi and reclocking support for mt8183
nlhowell has quit [Ping timeout: 246 seconds]
<alyssa> macc24: you fix up that stuff and I'll fix up mesa, deal? 😇 :p
<macc24> alyssa: is it fine if it's fixed in my linux fork?
<alyssa> Mainling is hard 🤷
<alyssa> Pretty sure I've only had one actual commit merged to mainline :p
<macc24> was panfrost one commit? ;)
<alyssa> Nope
<alyssa> I've been uninvolved with panfrost-the-kernel, except as a reviewer.
<alyssa> Admittedly mesa/panfrost is 10x more code than linux/panfrost so..
<macc24> huh
<alyssa> z/
<alyssa> ?
<macc24> ?
<alyssa> what's the huh for? :)
<macc24> it was more like "oh that's interesting"
<alyssa> Oh.
<macc24> anywaym, i have this stuff fixed in my kernel fork, this was just pulling some patches from bbrezillon and mailing list
<macc24> "mediatek,mt8183_mt6358_ts3a227_max98357", longest compatible i have ever seen
<alyssa> >:)
<macc24> huh, wake-on-voice might get to duet soon on chrome os

<macc24> on which gpu?

<alyssa> (Ordinarily, Mesa releases 4 times a year, so we'd have a 20.4 coming up and 20.3 would've branched in July.)
icecream95 has joined #panfrost
<icecream95> alyssa: The first release of the year is *.0, so 20.3 is the fourth Mesa release
<alyssa> *blinks*
<alyssa> --What went wrong this year then? I thought we missed a release in the summer/
<alyssa> Then again I don't really pay attention to this sort of thing so I am not a reliable source >:
