<m_mans> Hi beneroth!
<m_mans> oops :)
<m_mans> Hi all
<Regenaxer> hi m_mans
<Regenaxer> !
<m_mans> Hi Regenaxer :)
<Regenaxer> o/
<m_mans> btw, how is the weather?
patrixl has left #picolisp [#picolisp]
<m_mans> We had even 0C in december here
<Regenaxer> So same as here :) 0 °C right now
<aw-> 27deg here
<aw-> :P
<Regenaxer> Too hot!
<aw-> yes I admit it's quite hot.. but much better than too cold, I can't complain
<m_mans> +27C is definitely better than -27C :)

<Regenaxer> tankf33der, my daugher says she did not get a notification too
<tankf33der> Regenaxer: yea.
<tankf33der> she must now always have app opened.
<CORDIC> ""Nock is like pico-Lisp with no symbols. "" -- https://urbit.org/understanding-urbit/technical-overview/
<CORDIC> IMHO Urbit is nonsense.
<CORDIC> I just wanted to sat that PicoLisp seems to be a significant dialect of Lisp :3 .
<beneroth> of course it is, "the german school of lisp" as a blog titled years ago :)
<beneroth> "deployed to Ethereum" lol okay, bye
<beneroth> interesting idea, this urbit, though
<beneroth> lets see if it still exists in 10 years
<CORDIC> Still ;) ?
<beneroth> ;)
<beneroth> they understood the picoLisp number type correctly (an integer, or an arbitrary byte-stream)
<CORDIC> I thought it is interesting first time I saw it. But they haven't even clarified their explanations since then.

<beneroth> I think it is not feasible to completely separate computing from having your own physical devices in the near future. Not when you value freedom and control, as the access to your computing is then fully dependent on third parties.
<beneroth> best way is a combination.
<beneroth> their concept is nice science-fiction, but lacks pragmatism to be realistic in any way.
<CORDIC> I absolutely agree.
<Regenaxer> CORDIC, thanks for the link
<CORDIC> My pleasure.
<Regenaxer> :)
<Regenaxer> Hi mtsd! I saw that too, but believe it is no problem
<Regenaxer> Refers to the SQL DB
<mtsd> Hi, just wanted to post a heads-up
<Regenaxer> good :)
<mtsd> I suspected that. Good Pil is not affected
<beneroth> nice failure, thanks for the link
<Regenaxer> Yeah, I use of course pil db in PilBox
<beneroth> I understand the problem is about Web (browser) local storage
<Regenaxer> seems so
<Regenaxer> The pil db is in the home directory of the PilBox app
<Regenaxer> I think this is not influenced
<mtsd> The benefits of rolling your own stack :)
<Regenaxer> yess :)
<beneroth> absolutely!
<mtsd> And, the benefits for all us others that Regenaxer created his own stack. Thanks again :)
<Regenaxer> :)
<Regenaxer> I should talk about PilBox on PilCon 2020
<beneroth> aye
<Regenaxer> btw, 27th and following seems good?
<beneroth> good for me
<Regenaxer> Shall we ask in the list how many are interested?
<Regenaxer> eg. with a probability of joining
<Regenaxer> If 20 people say they come 50%, we expect 10 :)
<beneroth> :)
<beneroth> I come 100%
<Regenaxer> great!!
<Regenaxer> The room is comfortable for max. 30
<mtsd> Good dates for me as well
<Regenaxer> Good
<beneroth> alexshendi is again coming to C3, I will make him aware of pilCon :)
<Regenaxer> He knows already
<beneroth> good good
<Regenaxer> wrote here a few days ago
<Regenaxer> yeah
<mtsd> I could perhaps talk a little about Pil usage where I work
<Regenaxer> very good
* beneroth too
<mtsd> But I must admit, talking about Pil with you, Regenaxer, in the audience makes me nervous just thinking about it..
<Regenaxer> Perhaps we can have some talks, and make a workshop
<Regenaxer> No reason! :)
<mtsd> haha, easy for you to say ;)
<Regenaxer> :)
<beneroth> We are afraid of making Regenaxer sad, when we sees how we misunderstood his baby ;-)
<beneroth> when he sees
<mtsd> Yes, exactly
<Regenaxer> I'm sure you did not misunderstand
<mtsd> Thank you, very nice of you
<beneroth> mtsd, Regenaxer is a very friendly and calm person
<mtsd> I can put the odd application together, but I don't really have the deep knowledge about the virtual machine, pilasm etc
<beneroth> in worst case we drink Bavarian beer together until everything looks better
<mtsd> Yes, beneroth. Indeed he is :)
<beneroth> no worries
<Regenaxer> Beer is good
<mtsd> yes
<mtsd> :)
<beneroth> you should be afraid of me talking your hears off :P
<Regenaxer> So I'll compose a post to the ML over X-mas
<beneroth> thank you Regenaxer
<beneroth> perfect
<Regenaxer> First we must know how many are interested
<Regenaxer> I collect addresses for accomodatiin
<Regenaxer> ion
<Regenaxer> I called Sonnenhof
<beneroth> do we need a PilCon wiki?
<beneroth> events.picolisp.com/2020/
<Regenaxer> They cannot tell how empty they are, but if we reserve in April or so no problem
<beneroth> good
<mtsd> Great
<Regenaxer> Good idea
<Regenaxer> Or just in the list?
<Regenaxer> ml I mean
<beneroth> list is probably good enough :)
<Regenaxer> yeah
<beneroth> we can still make a dedicated wiki if required
<Regenaxer> or I modify the sushi application
<Regenaxer> to register
<mtsd> Somewhere to post pictures after the event.
<Regenaxer> hmm
<Regenaxer> Yes
<beneroth> I've got some picolisp domains lying around if you want a dedicated one
<Regenaxer> this can be done in wiki
<beneroth> T
<Regenaxer> :)
<beneroth> Regenaxer, questions about SVG.l
<beneroth> I want to use a custom font
<Regenaxer> ok
<beneroth> I declare fonts with (<faces> (quote ("fontname" "filepath.otf") and then apply it with (font (9 . "fontname"))
<Regenaxer> Let me find a use case here
<beneroth> the font size is taken, but the font is not applied.
<beneroth> yeah
<beneroth> maybe the font fileformat is not good
<beneroth> maybe I use it wrong
<beneroth> in March 2016 you added the use of (srcUrl) into <faces> implementation
<beneroth> so the path to the font files you give in <faces> is an url, not a local path, the fonts to be embedded into the pdf (like images) ?
<Regenaxer> This works: http://ix.io/24FZ
<beneroth> I tried doing (def 'srcUrl prog) and give a local path, relative to the execution dir
<Regenaxer> hmm, I don't remember
<beneroth> aye, I've found that example in my notes :)
<beneroth> does (<faces>) have to be within (page), or outside, just within (pdf ..) is okay=
<beneroth> ?
<beneroth> usually (fonts) is okay to be called before (page ...)
<beneroth> I meant (font)
<Regenaxer> yes, in (page ..
<beneroth> ok
<Regenaxer> One more example
<beneroth> and the font files are meant to be downloaded from the URL when watching the PDF, or only during PDF generation ?
<Regenaxer> from menu
<Regenaxer> moment

<Regenaxer> Sorry
<Regenaxer> telephone
<Regenaxer> I also found this: http://ix.io/24G2
<beneroth> ok thanks
<beneroth> that helps me a little bit
<Regenaxer> Great
<beneroth> I guess I have look into rsvg-convert
<Regenaxer> Sorry, still phone
<beneroth> if the fonts get embedded into the PDF, and how it accesses the fonts will be dependent on that tool, nothing in pil code
<beneroth> ok
<beneroth> no problem
<beneroth> thank you
rob_w has quit [Quit: Leaving]
<Regenaxer> Yeah, sorry, on phone with btg all the time, they need an urgent change
<beneroth> no problem, not so urgent
<Regenaxer> :)
<beneroth> trying to solve now, might need to come back to you later
<Regenaxer> ok
<beneroth> but no stress
