<asheesh> A v1 hack package would have to use Sandstorm's very limited ability to do outbound HTTP to make those method calls, probably.
<pod> asheesh: aye the Stripe flow is that the client does some JS magic to exchange CC details for a token, and the server uses said token to identify the card to charge
<asheesh> A v2 package could integrate with a "Stripe driver" so that it's able to communicate precisely with Stripe and nothing else.
<asheesh> Right, so then yeah, I guess it wants to talk to Stripe and so that might be hard, but not impossible.
<asheesh> If you decide you want to work on this, I would work with you on making sure the Stripe stuff could work properly, even if that means me submitting patches to your app to do that.
<asheesh> BTW it's amazing that this thing has been around so long. That gives me some hope.
<asheesh> As in, that it won't vanish tomorrow.

<pod> the author I believe tried to crowdfund some funds for dev time but came up short

<asheesh> Per https://docs.sandstorm.io/en/latest/administering/guide/#accounts-authentication-and-access-control you can log in even if you don't have a "User" account, which is why I talk about modifying the users.
<asheesh> You're a "Visitor" or "Guest" until someone upgrades you.
<asheesh> Having "open-ish invites" would be cool, too. Oasis uses that. I'd be hesitant to turn it on, on a public server.
<asheesh> Maybe the main thing that would help you enough is a button users can click to request a "User" account.
