<bignose> so IIUC, a Grain doesn't allow me to connect to the filesystem with SSH or anything.
<bignose> how can I make configuration changes that are not accessible in the web interface? e.g. how can I configure a GitWeb grain?
<bignose> because GitWeb is designed so that you configure it by modifying files (such as description) directly.
<bignose> and if I can't connect to the Grain via SSH, how can I securely push to the Git repository in that Grain?
* bignose is very confused about how to operate a Grain

<ocdtr_web> bignose: If you need to, you can download a copy of the grain as a backup, which is a zip file containing the grain metadata and it's file system, edit what you need to, and restore it as a backup.
<ocdtr_web> Though that would not preserve any keys for connecting to the grain, so you'd need to reconnect your git clients and such.

<bignose> ocdtrekkie: thanks for responding. Regarding “preserve the keys for connecting”, how can I establish those keys to begin with?
<bignose> Thdere doesn't appear to be any way to do something to the Grain, if the app's web interface doesn't have it.
<bignose> so I can't see a way to tell GitWeb about SSH keys for the Git client.

<JonTheNiceGuy> bignose: you don't interact with the git repo over SSH, you use HTTP instead. When you first access the grain, it tells you which credentials to use to access it.
