<whitequark> yes, it is possible
<whitequark> Windows had hardware virt support since Vista
<whitequark> that said, it will not necessarily work very well unless VirtualPC can emulate a q35 machine

<cr1901_modern> whitequark: I was under the impression that KVM was something that *supplemented* hardware virtualization. I have VTx enabled on my laptop, and I know it works. But, ignoring perf issues for the moment, I wasn't sure that would be sufficient to run OSX.
<whitequark> KVM is more or less a way to expose VTx and VTd to userspace
<whitequark> and the equivalent ARM, ..., technologies
<cr1901_modern> Okay, cool! I'll try it w/ VirtualBox at some point soon/see what happens. Friend was interested in a port of some software I wrote. But I found out they use Apple hardware. I'm willing to try a few things before saying "I can't do it"
<whitequark> well you also have to violate Apple copyright, of course
<whitequark> virtualbox doesn't have the applesmc osk emulator
<cr1901_modern> I'm not exceptionally concerned about the copyright. I may put a Linux partition back on my machine.
<cr1901_modern> so I can use QEMU
