<Xello>
this has happened though as i say on several roms
<Xello>
ics and jb based
<Xello>
well on every rom ive tried other than stock
<Thracky>
it may be on the carrier side, but it would seem to be relatively isolated, otherwise, as I said before, you'd have scores of people complaining about it
<Xello>
the time ive encountered something like this before was on my old nokia, i could never get desktop version of youtube to load
<Xello>
would work on wifi, but not on vodafone connection

was like it was intercepting the data and forcing mobile site to load

<bbqbot>
derp
<Xello>
yeah pay monthly
<Thracky>
or just a "mobile internet" plan
<Xello>
whats the difference?
<Thracky>
well, obviously every carrier is different
<Thracky>
but most carriers used to (and some still do) offer unlimited mobile internet on dumbphones
<Xello>
i wish i could get unlimited :) got a 2gb limit right now
<Thracky>
but data would not work 100% on those plans
<Thracky>
the only way to compare, is to see a logcat from a rooted stock rom
<Thracky>
actually doesn't need root I think
<Thracky>
I can't remem tho :P
<Thracky>
but you'd be surprised what little oddball settings on your account they can mess up
<Thracky>
and you're unlikely to have them fix it if it works on stock
<Xello>
theres only a handful of settings i have access to regarding the connection yeah
<Xello>
not sure what alot of them are
<Xello>
it seems set up automatically though
<Thracky>
well as I said, you'd have a lot more people complaining if it wasn't an isolated issue.
<Xello>
i dunno, sales of £500 unlocked phone for people on this network
<Xello>
most people would just get the cheaper locked ones
<Xello>
i did check out their "setup guide" for the connection too on their site, it doesn't have some of the information that appears to be entered automatically
<Xello>
so i just left it as it is
<Thracky>
well the information that's entered is just pulled from the apn xml file in the rom.
<Xello>
he lists the APN settings he claim were different from before, they are exactly the same as what mine are right now

Internal SD works fine . Flashed siyah latest then moved XWLPX to secondary boot then flashed CyanogenMod 10 then when it was ok then flashed back siyah to recover secondary boot

Can I do safety Wipe Data on lastest CM9 or its brick kernel?

Thracky: blatant lie
<whitequark>
I've seen 300Mbps on a 802.11abgn router
<Thracky>
I've *never* ever EVER EVER EVER seen that.
<Thracky>
I'd love to see proof.
<whitequark>
what would you take as a proof?
<Espenfjo>
Reaching true N speeds depends really on the environment you are in
<bealtine>
on a g router?
<bbqbot>
derp
<Thracky>
it'd be an N router.
<bealtine>
haha
<Thracky>
G is 54.
<Espenfjo>
5Ghz and no interferrence
<bealtine>
i know he said g
<whitequark>
Espenfjo: yes, exactly
<whitequark>
Thracky: you see, it wasn't a test you would probably think of.
<Thracky>
I can sit beside my router on 5ghz and not get anywhere close to 300 mbps transferring from a wired client.
<Thracky>
oh here comes the condescending remarks
<Thiagovfar>
Your wired device might be 100mbps...
<whitequark>
I was trying to test if the PHY/MAC layer can indeed provide the 300 Mbps speed
<Thracky>
no
<Thracky>
gigabit
<Thracky>
I wasn't talking hardware layer raw throughput
<Thiagovfar>
What about the router ports, are they gigabit?
<whitequark>
so, I ran a test with UDP and netcat with /dev/urandom on the source side and /dev/null on the receiving one
<Thracky>
I'm talking real world speeds
<Thracky>
just as we were talking with LTE real world speeds.
<whitequark>
my point being, the WiFi itself can provide the 300Mbps speed.
<Thracky>
sure
<whitequark>
I've also tested the TCP in the same environment
<Thracky>
so can LTE provide the 75 mbps speed
<whitequark>
and came to conclusion that Linux default algorithms don't scale to 300 Mbps
<Thracky>
but will it ever actually in the real world? no.
<whitequark>
it's very different with LTE I'd say
<Thracky>
I'm not saying they're the same at their core, it was a simple minded comparison. yeesh.
<whitequark>
with WiFi, you expect that you will be the only person using your router, or one of a few, and that all of these people won't be constantly trying to stream HD video
<whitequark>
i.e. it serves a small number of people
<bealtine>
bs
<whitequark>
LTE doesn't; it's designed to provide 75 Mbps to everyone in the coverage area together
<bealtine>
more bs
<whitequark>
bealtine: elaborate
<bealtine>
lte is a shared medium
<bealtine>
end of discussion
<Xello>
so who has the fastest land line here
<whitequark>
*shrug* gtfo then. my point being, you'll practically never be the only one using a particular LTE BTS, but that won't be so with WiFi where an AP is commonly set up for a small number of people.
<Thracky>
soon as the epeen flexing starts I'm out. So I'll bbl :P
<bealtine>

hello?
<njoken>
i need support please, i think i've somehow bricked my device
<Thracky>
can you get into download mode
<njoken>
well, as soon as i boot the telephone after doing the noob-safe flash, it comes up a text Cyanogen mod and a circular thing around it, but nothing happens
<Thracky>
which phone
<njoken>
it just keep circleing
<Ravenheart>
did you wipe
<whitequark>
did you wipe /data?
<Thiagovfar>
Also, make sure to charge the battery up before flashing
<Thracky>
"noob-safe flash" = cm9 resurrection?
<njoken>
well it didnt tell me to in the instructions
<Thracky>
you do need to wipe if you're coming from a non AOSP rom.
<Thracky>
or it will just loop like that.
<njoken>
can i do something about it?
<bbqbot>
derp
<Thracky>
(generally a good idea to wipe when changing roms, and not just changing minor versions of the same rom)
<njoken>
can i wipe the data now?
<Thracky>
boot into recovery, wipe data/factory reset.
<njoken>
how do i boot into recovery?
<Thracky>
hold pwr/home/vol up
<Thracky>
you really need to read up more before doing this stuff if you don't even know that.
<Thracky>
pretty crucial.
<njoken>
as soon as i pull the battery and put it in again, the phone starts up itself
<Ravenheart>
hold the power + home + volume up buttons
<njoken>
now it has wiped the data
<njoken>
should i try booting it now?
<Ravenheart>
yes
<njoken>
please work <3
<Ravenheart>
did you flash the gapps
chart8006 has joined #teamhacksung-support
<njoken>
i did the noob-safe edition through ODIN
<Thracky>
wipe shouldn't be needed then.
<njoken>
YES OMG IT WORKED, my pulse were through the cieling <3
<Thracky>
but yeah odd you had to after using an odin tar.
<Thracky>
wipe is always good tho.

<Fissurez>
to be fair, it's an incredibly nice phone
<Thracky>

<Fissurez>
iOS 6 is a joke XD
<oshea85>
really, why
<bealtine>
ipnoez is best
<Fissurez>
it's managed to go backwards.
<Thracky>
yes, because it's the exact same as ios 3-5
<njoken>
maps is definately something crappy
<Thracky>
and has shitty maps.
<Fissurez>
Thracky: nope, it's gotten worse.

<oshea85>
you guys saw the samsung commercial about the iphone 5 release
<Ravenheart>
a 4 inch screen today is pathetic
<Fissurez>

ohno, imo the build quality of the iphone 5 is actually fantastic

the proper quote is "Boy, that escalated quickly"
<addi>
and it's written by certified Apple-fanboy/Samsung hater Prasad of GSMArena :p
<RoBz>
yeah its really blowing up
<addi>
"The negative reaction by the devs is only going to turn people away from their phones, like why I owned 3 HTC phones now have a Samsung, and likely soon will have a Sony"
<bealtine>
maybe samsung will release some docs for exynos4
<addi>
I'm pretty sure 19 million of the 20 million that bought the S3 care about them supporting community devs or not
<addi>
don't care*
<RoBz>
yup
<addi>
it's funny to see people thinking that poor source support/dev support is gonna dip sales for the company
<bealtine>
still 1 million do care
<addi>
and that 1 million is not their target
<addi>
nor are they going to cause too much of a dent in their sales
<bealtine>
any bad press is bad
<bealtine>
but you're probably right
<addi>
still not going to take away their awesome sales. people are easily blinded by "wow, quad core, yay!' to care
<Jiangyi>
Thiagovfar: Wasn't going for a quote, the phrase just came off the top of my head xD
<Thiagovfar>
Jiangyi: I'm a meme nazi. As opposed to a grammar nazi
<Jiangyi>
lol
<Kuzon>
Reddit made me hate memes
<Thiagovfar>
You may hate them, no problem with that. But if you intend to use one, use it f*cking right.
<Kuzon>
This is true, I hate incorrect ones
<Kuzon>
but what Jiangyi said wasn't a meme picture
<Kuzon>
he was just saying it esculated, so to me no meme was intended
<Kuzon>
at least to my eyes
<Jiangyi>
U_U
<Thiagovfar>
I love being pedantic
<Kuzon>
Anyways. What SoC's does Sony use now-a-days?
<bbqbot>
derp
<bealtine>

oh

wonders what "upate boot animation" means :D
<addi>
Kuzon, according to Google themselves they've always contributed to AOSP
<addi>
then since late 2011 they decided to release beta ROMs and what not in XDA
<addi>
they use their own NovaThor dual-cores
<addi>
and Qualcomm's in the high-end
<addi>
NovaThor currently relegated to mid-range dual-core, has a lower clocked Mali 400
<addi>
though they've always used Qualcomm, since the single-core days, so not really a change I guess. just came up with their own NovaThor which Samsung also uses in a couple of phones

need ur help - p3100 status 7
<Jiangyi>
addi: They released Beta ROMs? O_O
* Jiangyi
is shocked
<addi>
yeah, official alpha and beta ICS ROMs for many devices on XDA
dizko has joined #teamhacksung-support
<addi>
I myself was using their beta ICS ROM on my Xperia neo V
<bealtine>
on install- usually means you trying to install wrong rom
<addi>
Samsung on the other hand shows off by sending free phones to devs, that's it
<addi>
Sony was also bright enough to understand that their single-core devices would not run ICS as well as GB, so they didn't force the update over the air. want ICS? grab it from PC
<hackmate>
anyone can help me? status 7 galaxy tab 2 p3100 cant find it over network
<Thiagovfar>
hackmate: What are you trying to do with it?
<frankdrey-pc>
sounds like you downloaded the wrong zip
<sabretooth30>
hello, i just install cm10 for galaxy s2 i9100g and i cant connect to my 3g connecion, i am using a data simcard any work around for this? thanks
<Jiangyi>
sabretooth30: Use HiAPN.
<Jiangyi>
lol this guy on Reddit: "I'm doubly pissed off -- I deliberately avoided buying the ubiquitous i9100g because the i9100 was said to be a tiny bit faster. Now I feel like an idiot."
<Jiangyi>
xD
<sabretooth30>
ok thanks, im gonna try it, be back later
<Thiagovfar>
Poor hackmate, lost its way on IRC. He's PMing me, and does not know how to get back to the channel. What should I do?
<hackmate>
Thiagovfar: i know all these steps how to root, i stuck on flashing, when i choose zip with nightly whatever number the result is status 7, what should i do?
<Jiangyi>
If you are 100% super duper sure that you have a p3100 and not a 3110 or a 3113 or whatever
<hackmate>
so why do i get status 7? i use them
<bbqbot>
derp
<Jiangyi>
Then delete the first line of the updater-script and flash it. :-P
<hackmate>
i am sure p3100
<bealtine>
7 means wrong rom
<hackmate>
i know but rom is corect
<frankdrey-pc>
wait...
<frankdrey-pc>
do you have cwm? xD
<hackmate>
sure i have xD
<Thiagovfar>
If you're sure, do as Jiangyi says.
<Thiagovfar>
If you, however, flash the wrong ROM, you may get in trouble.
<hackmate>
delete the line of the updatere-script? what does it mean?
<frankdrey-pc>
...no dont do that :P
<frankdrey-pc>
the updater-script is never wrong :P
<hackmate>
hehe :)
<hackmate>
LOL ok
<frankdrey-pc>
are you trying the experimental one?
<hackmate>
well not yet ;) i tried 20 and 21
<hackmate>
with same error 7
<Jiangyi>
frankdrey-pc: It wouldn't be the first time that updater-script is screwing up on Tab 2 devices. :-|
<frankdrey-pc>
oh :S
<frankdrey-pc>
i see...
<hackmate>
well i will give a try earlier builds
<frankdrey-pc>
hackmate, open the zip with winrar or something and edit the updater-script file in /meta-inf/googleorsomeshitandsomeweridfolders/updater-script
<frankdrey-pc>
:P
<Jiangyi>
^Yeah what he said.
<hackmate>
r u sure? i dont want to brick my tab
<frankdrey-pc>
well, if you're sure you have a p3100, you're safe :P
<frankdrey-pc>
check again :P
<Thiagovfar>
hackmate: You're the one that has to be sure
<hackmate>
p3100 is with 3g so i have it :)
<Xello>
how sure is sure?
<hackmate>
sure = 3g = 3100 right? :)
<frankdrey-pc>
check on the back
<frankdrey-pc>
it says gt-p3100?
<bbqbot>
derp
<frankdrey-pc>
its very tiny
<hackmate>
need to pull out cover
<Thiagovfar>
Xello: That's a good question. Into this matter, depends on how paranoid are you about losing your device.
Fissurez has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
<frankdrey-pc>
well, then pull it out of the cover :P
<hackmate>
:P
<Thiagovfar>
Xello: My "sureness" threshold is very low. Always do the wrong thing first.
<frankdrey-pc>
it says "Model: GT-P5113TS" on mine for example :P
<hackmate>
damn letters r so small... anyway under settings menu it says p3100
<hackmate>
ok at the back there is p3100
<hackmate>
so sure i sure for sure :D
<hackmate>
*is
<frankdrey-pc>
okay then change the updater-script
<frankdrey-pc>
:P
<hackmate>
ok cross ur fingers :D
<frankdrey-pc>
make sure you did download the 3100 one though :P
<Xello>
make surely
<frankdrey-pc>
also, if you give me 55 seconds, ill check myself :P
<hackmate>
sure no prob
<Xello>
and dont call me shirley
<frankdrey-pc>
:p
<Jiangyi>
Worst thing that could possibly happen: You have to flash your tablet back with Odin. :-P
<frankdrey-pc>
oh noesss D:
<Jiangyi>
That, or your battery dies while flashing. :-P
<Jiangyi>
In other words, don't flash if you only have 10% left lol
<chadouming>
Jiangyi: hmm, drop your tablet in toilet
<chadouming>
aint it worse ?
<frankdrey-pc>
hmm the getprop checks for 3100
<frankdrey-pc>
wtf?:p[
<Xello>
worse still
<Jiangyi>
chadouming: Well, chances of that is low unless you're flashing while doing #2. :-|
<Xello>
drop your tablet in someone else's toilet
<chadouming>
xD
<Xello>
before it was flushed
<hackmate>
frankdrey-pc: so how is it?
sabretooth30 has quit [Quit: Page closed]
<frankdrey-pc>
i dunno why it's failin for yah
<chadouming>
well, the only real problem if you dont end the flashing process is if you mess with bootloader
<frankdrey-pc>
it looks like it checks for the right nodel
<chadouming>
otherwise, nothing is really bad
<frankdrey-pc>
xchat why you so sucky? :|
