<ValleyBell> Okay, so the LA-32 sample decoder really works only with the MT-32 sample ROMs. The CM-32P and SC-55 both use different ways to scramble their data.
<ValleyBell> and the byte patterns look different between CM-32P and SC-55 as well.
<andlabs> I thought hte CM-32 had... fake LA?
<superctr> the CM-32P is a rompler
<superctr> CM-32L is based on the MT32 and has LA

<KitsuWhooa> lol, rompler
<KitsuWhooa> I still wonder how the roms used in the CM-32P
<andlabs> rompler rompler rompler (generic reggaeton beat here)
<cr1901_modern> Beautiful. Wrong, but beautiful.
<KitsuWhooa> At least got the ATA acronym right :p
<cr1901_modern> ej5, did you have a hand in the linked photo at all :P?
<cr1901_modern> KitsuWhooa: Mind if I share your dumps w/ our benefactor?
<KitsuWhooa> benefactor? :p
<cr1901_modern> The person who paid for the CM-32P
<KitsuWhooa> ...you mean ValleyBell
<KitsuWhooa> right? :p
<cr1901_modern> I meant the person in the UK who paid for it initially lol
<cr1901_modern> but fair point
<KitsuWhooa> Oh, sure, why not
<ej5> cr1901_modern, lol
<Lord_Nightmare> so all 3 roms on the cm-32p are dumped, the cpu ROM and the two pcm roms?
<Lord_Nightmare> i'll give it a shot decoding the pcm ones
<KitsuWhooa> three pcm roms, actually
<Lord_Nightmare> so theres 4 roms? 1 firmware, 3 pcm?
<KitsuWhooa> yup
<KitsuWhooa> last 3 are all in parallel
<Lord_Nightmare> the pcm roms should be those weird tc531000 type, probably? the 128kb 28 pin roms which are a bit annoying to dump
<KitsuWhooa> They are standard mask roms, 4mbit
<KitsuWhooa> each
<Lord_Nightmare> ah, so not tc531000
<KitsuWhooa> the part numbers are in the archive :p
<KitsuWhooa> The datasheets indicated that they followed standard 27c4001 pinout
* Lord_Nightmare scrolls up
<Lord_Nightmare> ok, now i see
<Lord_Nightmare> yeah, i got the link from when valleybell psoted it
<KitsuWhooa> fair :p
<KitsuWhooa> Also, I did some experimenting and tried playing instruments with some of the roms missing/swapped
<KitsuWhooa> it appears that some samples are spanning across the roms
<KitsuWhooa> despite being in parallel
<KitsuWhooa> for example this is what it sounded like with ic19 missing https://tasossah.com/cm32p-missing-ic19-gmepiano1.flac
<KitsuWhooa> and when I put IC20 in place of IC19 https://tasossah.com/cm32p-missing-ic20inic19-gmepiano1.flac :p
<KitsuWhooa> CM-32P + emulated MT-32 that's not set up quite right https://vps.tasossah.com/misc/AXIS_03.flac
