<pjz>
though actually, that may not work because a web hit will put Host: mydomain.com in the http headers and ipfs.io won't answre to that
<pjz>
you'll have to set up a rewrite rule on your own web server to rewrite http?://mydomain.com/ to http?://ipfs.io/
<und0ck3d[m]>
I believe I've read somewhere it did, not sure though
<TrUsT_n1>
I will try both out.

Eh, can't do the rewrite. Don't have a server.
<und0ck3d[m]>
Use this instead of ipfs.io if you want to setup the CNAME and don't need to trust me: venux.org
<und0ck3d[m]>
note: no guarantee of uptime because I may have to reboot the VPS

How should this work for a business project then?
<und0ck3d[m]>
You better get a VPS, install IPFS there and setup your own gateway, it's safer and you guarantee it keeps running
<TrUsT_n1>
und0ck3d[m]: Have a group of VPS's running a cluster. Trying to use DNS to point to IPNS address such as site1.com and site2.com
<TrUsT_n1>
und0ck3d[m]: Just trying to get DNS to do the direct rather than another VPS. May have to stand one up just to manage all the domain rewrites.
<TrUsT_n1>
und0ck3d[m]: I have the TXT record part working 100%. That is great. Now I'm interested in the full site1.com forward.

so for that (copying): you have to either to point the domain name to the gateway I linked above or setup your own gateway in one of your VPS... as far as I know that's the only way atm, sorry
<TrUsT_n1>
und0ck3d[m]: Hey, that's something. Thanks for the help.

good luck!

Btw, does ipfs have a function that merges two folders? i.e. given two folders, if only one has the entry and the other doesn't, add the file to the result, if they both have the same file or folder, do nothing, if they have the same file entry but the file contents differ, error, and if they have the same folder entry, descend recursively.

Unix's shell $PATH variable uses colons as separators and so might get confused if the file names include them.

hey all, my team (https://textile.io) and i have been working on ipfs-related projects for a while now, and are interested in getting more directly involved
<carsonfarmer[m]>
from my own perspective, i'm interested in
<carsonfarmer[m]>
a) sitting in on some of the research meetings, and
<carsonfarmer[m]>
b) finding a critical missing piece around which i can formulate a proposal for the grants program
<carsonfarmer[m]>
in that vein, would anyone mind if i just 'lurked' in the community research call next week to get a feel for direction, community interest, etc?
<carsonfarmer[m]>
i'd also be interested in talking with someone from the protocol labs research team about longer-term visions and areas of mutual interest?
