@franbird the next LibreELEC 9.2.x release (with Kodi 18.6 due "real soon now") will include the latest SPI bootloader and VLI USB Bridge firmwares. You'll be able to update the bootloader and/or USB firmwares in the LE Settings addon.

Hm other than build.*, does the LE build system store any caches or anything in a different dir? I've been hacking around a bit, but now even after make clean and make distclean, it doesn't try to build the toolchain but instead fails when being unable to find a compiler in build.*/
