<Numline1> Hey folks :) I've noticed I'm running a 8.2 branch still (found an older LibreElec Rpi3 that I finally decided to connect now I have a decent TV)
<Numline1> So I'm wondering whether the update process via terminal works even between major versions :)
<Numline1> basically just downloaded the new image to ~/.config
<Numline1> eh, sorry ~/.update
<Numline1> #toolate did backup and now rebooting

<aphirst> i took the plunge, I have ordered an rpi4
RaphGro has quit [Quit: Please remember your own message. It'll be read as soon as possible.]
<aphirst> it will be very exciting to have HEVC support on both TVs :)
<aphirst> i'm already at work saving disk space
<|Jeroen|> yeah a media center without hevc is kinda silly
<aphirst> nowadays certainly
<aphirst> i used to not have much HEVC in the library
<aphirst> but it's a night and day difference and it's gotten easier to actually encode it
<aphirst> also my new laptop has hw-encoding/decoding for it
<aphirst> (i'm a bit behind the times)
<|Jeroen|> well i can't even remember not having hvec support
<aphirst> lol
<|Jeroen|> i think i even had it on the C1
<aphirst> ah well we have a C2 on the downstairs tv where HEVC works fine
<aphirst> mum's bedroom has an rpi3 which... chunks on HEVC
<|Jeroen|> my C2 broke
<aphirst> aww that's a shame
<|Jeroen|> i have a potato now
<aphirst> my XU4 killed its eMMC for no reason
<|Jeroen|> much better build quality
<aphirst> i'm now running it off a microSD
<|Jeroen|> yeah hardkernel isn't the best i noticed
<aphirst> when i first got the XU4 i had big problems until i got the beefiest power adapter
<aphirst> it would tend to just randomly cut out and die
<aphirst> when under "load"
<|Jeroen|> xu4 was pretty fast, but i don't think it was a media soc
<|Jeroen|> was a samsung if i am not mistaken
<aphirst> i think so
<aphirst> some exynos big.LITTLE
<|Jeroen|> i am waiting for some nice S905X3 boards

<pletopia> aphirst .. let me know how the rpi4 works out for ya
<aphirst> i will :)
<pletopia> i was considering gettting one
<aphirst> no idea how long shipping will take
<pletopia> could you please run CPU Benchmark addon
<pletopia> curious how it does
<aphirst> i can try to remember that
<aphirst> might set it up on the C2 as an effort to remind me
