hello. i'm trying to add a new source (nfs). The browser in gui doesn't work (stall, sometimes displays an empty list). It's weird because i already have some nfs source on the same server that do work well.
<orzel>
Anyway, my usual workaround it to edit the file by hand using ssh.
<orzel>
My problem today is that one directory has a non-ascii character (é). I can't enter it with keyboard, not paste it. It displays "..."
<orzel>
Any idea what I could do to fix that ? I have no idea it the problem comes from ssh, vi, or anything else.. ?
<orzel>
seems vi, i can enter é in bash once connected by ssh

orzel: You might also be able to use {tab} to complete if the preceeding characters are unique enough

while editing a path with vim in sources.xml ? I highly doubt that..!?
<pragmaticenigma>
orzel: I must have misunderstood your process
<orzel>
i have a problem inputting with non-ascii in config files
<pragmaticenigma>
I don't store files in my library with non-ascii characters. I usually normalize them before I put them in my shares for Kodi/LibreElec to pick up
<orzel>
Not sure what you mean by 'normalize', but that would destroy actual names ... I'm not in the USA
<orzel>
(it's a directoy name actually)

oblikoamorale: ah, seems a good way, will try. Thanks
<pragmaticenigma>
orzel: Normalize for me means to remove the diacritics from the characters, leaving the root character behind: é becomes e
<pragmaticenigma>
i can understand that might affect the scrapers adversely though, if the scrapper does not also provide a way to find them with their diacritics removed
