<akaizen>
@Astralix thanks for your help. I was able to get wi-Fi working - the problem was some files were removed from the platform build in order to get a minimal image

<cristian_c>
Hello
<cristian_c>
I can't mount sdcard and external sdcard in cwm recovery
<cristian_c>
I always get: 'error mounting sdcard'
<cristian_c>
or 'can't mount sdcard'
<cristian_c>
same for external sdcard
<cristian_c>
Any ideas?
<cristian_c>
I've read many many many threads found with google
<cristian_c>
but I've found nothing useful :(

did someone already test the usb wifi dongle with the marsboard ?
<rperier>
(until ethernet works, I will probably use wifi to load my kernel over the network, that's why I am asking)

rperier, can I test something for you this evening?
<rperier>
AstralixNB: I can test it myself this evening (for wifi). However I would need someone to check that pins topology is correct in the devicetree for the rk3066, because I think that I miss something
<rperier>
(just check the BANK register, the pin, the mux and the config for pullup/down. i.e, the hardware part)
<rperier>
I will flash my board with an ubuntu 14.04 and a working kernel to see how do the leds work in normal conditions for ethernet (just to confirm something)
<rperier>
because I still don't explain why the LED2 ("speed 100mbps") is blinking all the time very quickly
<rperier>
this is perhaps a stupid thing... :)

<prop81_>
has anyone seen this error while compiling the kernel: "arm-linux-gnueabihf-ld: BFD (GNU Binutils for Ubuntu) 2.22 internal error, aborting at ../../bfd/elflink.c line 8758 in elf_link_output_extsym"
<hramrach_>
prop81_: that probably means that 1) your system is faulty if the error is not repeatable
<hramrach_>
2) your toolchain is faulty if the error is repeatable
<hramrach_>
upgrade/replace either as appropriate
<prop81_>
upgrade the toolchain?
<hramrach_>
yes
<prop81_>
I am on ubuntu 12.04 and downloaded the latest packages
<hramrach_>
also stating the version of kernel/gcc might help diagnosing the error
<hramrach_>
12.04 is .. old
<prop81_>
the docs say 12.04 is preferred
<prop81_>
I don't mind going to 14.04 if that works
<hramrach_>
you can also try with a completely different toolchain like the Emdebian sid cross-tools
<rperier>
there are ppa on ubuntu for last toolchains... no ? (even for lts)
<hramrach_>
the cross toolchains are probably always from a ppa but don't use Ubuntu so not sure about exact specifics
<karlp>
there's cross toolchains in regular repos these days
<hramrach_>
ok so the one from 12.04 is going to be ancient
<hramrach_>
should work with ancient kernels but with mainline better use something recent I guess
libv_ has joined #linux-rockchip
<AstralixNB>
rperier we can go through that this evening if you like. I do have the datasheets of the PHY as well as the TRM of the RK and the schematics of the radxa. I can even test the correct clocks as I have scopes, analyzer, function generator and frequency counter at home.
<rperier>
oh great
<prop81_>
I will give 14.04 a try
<AstralixNB>
I'll be home in a hour or so and then I yould pick up if you like
<rperier>
ok, thanks
<karlp>
12.04 has 4.6, not soo ancient :)

Ok, so I hit the road now. cul8er
<hramrach_>
prop81_: PPA is probably a better idea
libv_ is now known as libv
<hramrach_>
I have 4.7.2 which worked well so far
<hramrach_>
did not try to boot any rk code built with that, however. Only built the user-gpio.ko

(my repo is based directly from linux-next and does not contain this defconfig)

rperier, what radxa do you have? lite, pro or one of the older preview boards?
<rperier>
Astralix1: that's not for radxa but for the marsboard rk3066 :)
<Astralix1>
Ouch... I don't have a mars. I just wondered what your changes are all about...
<Astralix1>
Ok, then lets get me the schematics... wait a second
<rperier>
my changes are for rk3066 SoCs. This is to add ethernet support on the board
<Astralix1>
This is not wrong... Just need to get into the details

reperier, the LAN8720A ist placed in standard condition. But it is clocked by RMII CLKout of the 3066SOC. This has to be an exact 50MHz clock

<Astralix1>
rperier, are the resistors R46 and R53 placed on these mars boards?
<Astralix1>
rperier, if I roughly check the datasheet, LED1 is blinking on activity (CRS active) but LED2 normally only can be on 100MB/s or off 10MB/s or no link/ isolation
<Astralix1>
but you tell, that LED 2 is blinking fast
<Astralix1>
rperier, One of my first faults on a different device was, to forget that it is wired for RMII not MII, in RK3188 there is a flag needed for this in dts...
<rperier>
Astralix1: yeah "phy-mode" ?
<Astralix1>
yes, guess so
<rperier>
it's already set to "rmii" as default (see rk3xxx.dtsi)
<rperier>
I think that I will use a standard distribution with a working kernel to see how these LEDs work
thefinn93 has quit [Remote host closed the connection]

<Astralix1>
it is fairly easy, the datasheet does not tell about a fast blinking LED2
<Astralix1>
rperier which of mmind00's repositories should I use for this ?
<rperier>
for what ? to get to ethernet working on the marsboard ?
<Astralix1>
yes, which is the branch you base on from mmind00?
<Astralix1>
at least for the dts
<rperier>
I did not base my repo on mmind00's repo. It was not required. It is based on linux-next directly (everything is already on mainline for rk3066)
<Astralix1>
but you told me you use one of his dts?
dimqua has joined #linux-rockchip
<rperier>
no I use a dts which was created by Heiko. Which is rk3066a-bqcuri2.dts (and rk3066a.dtsi)
<rperier>
but it's upstream :)
<Astralix1>
ah, didn't know that you use this one. Sure this is upstream and I have it
