hey anybody around that knows a little more about electronics then me? :) I just desolderd 2 1R0 resistors i need for soomething else from a motherboard. They are huge 'coils' if anything. My multimeter however measures them as 0.8 Ohm. Pretty much the same when I only connect the leads. Could that be that my cheap multimeter sucks to much in measuring 1Ohm?

The cubietruck diagrams have been released http://cubieboard.org/download/ but sadly they are not accurate - the DDR is for 512MB model and flash I can't get any information (either wrong number or out of date or pdfs guarded)
<focus_it>
sad :(
<oliv3r>
as long as it supports 4 dram chips; it works with either model i would expect
<oliv3r>
same as flash, i'm sure flash is routed always, but you can choose to connect sd3 instead
<focus_it>
i'd imagine you'd be right, but nicer to know with precision than to guess
<focus_it>
i want to make derivatives - again easy enough to do without circuit diagrams as enough information is out there already

2GB ram and 8GB flash is close being 100% there with a fully functional linux pc able to handle larger packages without crawling
<focus_it>
I order 2, guess i just have to wait for them to arrive and try it out first hand! :D
<focus_it>
i just installed a cubie1 with 1TB disk logging 6 cameras sending 1 picture every second - about 5% utilization for each vsftpd thread - hardly anything to write home about
<focus_it>
all that for under 20W
<focus_it>
replacing a 200W intel PC
<jelly-home>
2GB says nothing about available memory bandwidth, which is probably going to look more like a P2 machine than a modern PC
<focus_it>
a while back i had a sheeva plug doing this - not too bad - but in smoked on me one day. the second unit did the same within days of each other
<focus_it>
jelly-home: yep - but i got no decent io to fill it with
<focus_it>
unless gaming - but then its not game ready yet i believe
<focus_it>
not like an nvida and 3GHz pc doing nexuiz for example

that reminds me i'd like to make the funv video card some day - its the torvald special Fsck U N Vidio card :D
<focus_it>
need someone to build me some quantum engtagled DRAM, and a CPU that knows how to interface with it - get out of the bind of 10MHz limitation of DDR page turning times
<focus_it>
Even a simulation of it with quad 40Mip PIC chips out to beat ARM+DDR any day
<focus_it>
too much work for now i think - but commercially it would be viable - this 'graphics card' would also double up as a bitcoin miner when not being used for games
<focus_it>
having to port all that software would make it near impossible to complete without investors - but they would then lock it all up and it all be back to square 1 again :(

focus_it: schematic says DDR3 8bit x 4pcs so seems to be accurate
<focus_it>
hmm.. but the memory chip it claims to use is 1Gbit
<Turl>
yay schematics
<focus_it>
As you say, the pins are identical for 8Mbit - just more of the multiplexed pins get used
<focus_it>
a little unnerving to find such a gross error though
<focus_it>
and flash chip - no datasheets anywhere

may be a different chip?
<oliv3r>
could be purpose mistakes so others can't copy it
<oliv3r>
chinese are affraid of that
<focus_it>
i can live with that
<oliv3r>
looks like wifi and bluetooth are connected speratly
<focus_it>
those in the know know how to get past the mistakes
<oliv3r>
wifi is sdio; bluetooth is bt-uart

bt-pcm even

the chip is 1 'can'

dunno what's underneath

ah, your statement about diff connections got me confused :)
<Turl>
I'm not looking at the pdf now
<oliv3r>
but it's wired to :sdio; wifi-host-wake
<oliv3r>

there is a battery on the photo - clock i assume - can't see it on diagram - anyone see it?
<oliv3r>
rtc battery yes
<focus_it>
its near the AXP209 - i assume the batt line (pins 38 39) go to it
<focus_it>
CN6 - i see it - is battery connector
cubie has joined #linux-sunxi

there's 2 battery connectors

a RTC batt and a lipo

oliv3r: which one is lipo?
<focus_it>
I see it CN5: says 3V - lipo is 3.7V ???
<kriegerod>
while you guys are at it - can you tell what's marked "NC/12v" near SATA port? And also - is there 3.3v output anywhere on the board?
eebrah|noPC has joined #linux-sunxi
<focus_it>
i got some 18650 batteries - they are 3.7V
eebrah has joined #linux-sunxi
<focus_it>
kriegerod: it looks like that is incoming 12V power which goes through FET OU1 that makes it available through to the 12V sata power cable. so its just a way of powering up and down the disk
<focus_it>
There is a similar 5V power line for hard disks
<oliv3r>
focus_it: yeah lipo is 3.7
<oliv3r>
so it doesn't generate 12V somehow?
<focus_it>
oliv3r - it expects 12 regulated coming in - it then turns it on and off for the bigger sata drives that need 12v power as well as the 5V
<focus_it>
the 2.5" drives can make do with just 5V
<oliv3r>
ah ok
<oliv3r>
i thought it would somehow boost the inc. 5V to 12V
<focus_it>
kriegerod: 3.3v available on cn8 and cn9 headers
<focus_it>
hmmm can't see mic in - anyone see it?
rz2k has quit []
<oliv3r>
no plug on board for it

maybe in the header

yep header CN8
<focus_it>
i can't see card2 - card0 is fitted
<oliv3r>
card2 isn't fitted, it's optional
<oliv3r>
you either get nand or card2
<focus_it>
ok - i see only one nand - so we get neither in this board i guess
<oliv3r>
i think youc an choose when ordering
<oliv3r>
ont he dev board it's 8gb flash
<focus_it>
i choose the only option - 8 gb flash
<focus_it>
just have to wait to see if there is 1 or 2 nand fitted
\\Mr_C\\ has joined #linux-sunxi
<oliv3r>
and i can nearly confirm; that the rtl8211e fitted on the CT is RGMII e.g. not backwards compatible with the MII from the EMAC
<oliv3r>
so cubietruck cannot use netboot with u-boot at this moment
