<libv>
Inode: it's pretty hard to get any useful machine out of anything but intel these days, at least if you want basic graphics, suspend/resume/hibernate and wifi to work at the same time
<libv>
Inode: and you do not want to worry too much about the machine that you work from
<libv>
you should spend your time worrying about the targets
<libv>
plus, prices of cheap intel based laptops really are close to prices of chromebooks

thanks for the info libv

Hey, just curious if anyone has tried kernel 4.2 on an Allwinner H3 based boards (Orange Pi 2, Orange PI PC, etc)
<Dan68>
just looks kinda interesting with the new-ish contribs of H3 related patches

libv: i'm still in the process of weighing up my options though, and i don't actually make use of suspend/resume/hibernate at all
<Inode>
i'm going to bet that compilation of large programs is going to take a while on most arm chromebooks though

Inode: fwiw, suspend/hibernate works well on the samsung chromebooks
<Wizzup>
the main pain point on the samsung chromebook(s) is graphics
hipboi has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<Inode>
Wizzup: why's that?
<paulk-aldrin>
Wizzup, Inode, I'd recommend the C201 Chromebook, with a RK3288 SoC
<paulk-aldrin>
it's supported by Libreboot and can be used with fully free software
hipboi has joined #linux-sunxi
<Wizzup>
Inode: well, it has a mali-t and I refuse to use the binary driver, so I have no driver :p
<Wizzup>
(for 3d or even 2d accel)
<Wizzup>
(g2d is something I can try again, I guess)
<Wizzup>
paulk-aldrin: no binary bootloader stage like BL1 and BL2 with samsung?
<paulk-aldrin>
Wizzup, correct
<Wizzup>
because afaik, u-boot and onwards is all free on this chromebook
<paulk-aldrin>
all free software
<paulk-aldrin>
Wizzup, indeed
<paulk-aldrin>
but there is BL1
<paulk-aldrin>
that is signed
<Wizzup>
(this is interesting to know but wasn't part of the original question)
<Wizzup>
with fbturbo 2d is mostly decent, but I use xf86-video-modesetting now, which basically has no (neon) accel even
<Wizzup>
(but does do external monitor :-)
<Wizzup>
bbl :)

Wizzup, make sure to use llvmpipe, too
<Wizzup>
I use it
<Wizzup>
I mostly avoid anything opengl though

I'm running a mainline (linux-next) kernel with working otg support on an olimex-som-evb. now I'm wondering why there is no entry in /sys/class/power_supply. is there a kernel option to enable information about the power supply here?

mawe242: Try something like /sys/bus/i2c/drivers/axp20x/0-0034 if you want to access the onboard axp209

<mawe242>
atx: thanks. I was hoping for a nicely filled /sys/class/power_supply dir. but I guess that only becomes useful if and when the battery charging drivers have been implemented.
