Hi. I have a pcDuino3 and want to do a manual build. I'm at the step for creating a root filesystem via debootstrap. I cannot actually do anything in the chroot from my PC, how should I go about doing all those steps?

fakemai: are you trying to build mainline kernel?
<fakemai>
No I was using legacy because I'm using the touchscreen addon.

what doesn't work for you?
<fakemai>
The kernel at least seems to boot it's just the rootfs.
<fakemai>
I'm more interested in using Debian than Ubuntu and wanted to try using debootstrap. But obviously I can't do anything in it from my laptop.

Hi there :) I have a little question about sunxi support in mainline uboot

<yangl1996>
I saw that in mainline uboot kconfig, usb support is forced on if the architecture is sunxi
<yangl1996>
but I noticed that initializing usb takes a lot of time, so I wonder shall we make is optional in Kconfig. I tested with usb support totally off and got no problem building and running
<yangl1996>
thank you in advance!

ok I have found a workaround for the sun4i-ss corruption
<susan33>
2) for my custom kernel, which version should i use ?
<susan33>
and first question : am i on the right irc for that ?
<TheLinuxBug>
susan33: welcome to linux-sunxi irc, please understand that not eveyone is constantly here, so someone who may be able to answer you may not be around for many hours. Your best bet is to ask your question and then wait, usually someone will try to help answer. If I knew the answer to your question I would try to answer, but I do not.

susan33, you have 2 options, run the maline kernel (that only have basic support for the A64) - see http://linux-sunxi.org/Linux_mainlining_effort or use the allwinner fork from their bsp and create the buildroot filesystem for it

at which temperature orange pi pc starts killing cores?
<plaes>
apritzel is the one who's working on mainlining
<susan33>
plaes, if i'm a beginner at the very boot start. i know to compile a kernel or modify a driver, but boot the pine64 is for the moment a thing i don't know.
<susan33>
however, before the kernel, i don't understand if i must just create a fat32 partition and put the file on it. i dd the .img i found (https://github.com/apritzel/pine64/) and it is things that have up to 10 partitions that i don't find description
<plaes>
do you want more features or mainline kernel?
<susan33>
i work on a project : recalbox. we support pi0 1 2 and 3. we want to support pine64
<plaes>
ok
<susan33>
i've a pine64 board just received.
<plaes>
you need to start with bootloader
<susan33>
technically, my understanding is that i need a bootloader and compile the kernel myself to add our patches (but an already compiled kernel for the moment could be engouh)
<susan33>
i understand that the pine64 can boot from a fat32 partition. i don't know what i must put on the /boot to boot the kernel. i'm reading documentation, but i don't really know which one i should follow. so i'm a bit lost for the moement.
