<TheLinuxBug>
yeah thats lame
<TheLinuxBug>
you choose US
<TheLinuxBug>
and its 22.55
<TheLinuxBug>
it can't cost them 14$ a unit to ship
<TheLinuxBug>
hmm
<TheLinuxBug>
looking again it seems only cheap if ordered from china
<TheLinuxBug>
maybe ill grab one since I am in no rush I can wait a month for it to ship from china ;p
<TheLinuxBug>
course thats the one with 100mbit nic only
<NiteHawk>
yes, you need to pick the "stock from china". same if you select "EU", prices goes up notably
ikmaak has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<TheLinuxBug>
lol
<TheLinuxBug>
so I guess thats a special 'vip price;
patap has joined #linux-sunxi
<TheLinuxBug>
cause active promo GBOlympic only works on 'full price items' and will revert cost to the 22$ each or whatever
<TheLinuxBug>
ha
<NiteHawk>
no, the promo/discount obviously only applies to the china stock - otherwise you're back to more or less "normal" rates
<NiteHawk>
e.g. EU is advertised as discounted, too - but at a much lower percentage
ikmaak has joined #linux-sunxi
<NiteHawk>
how they can produce and ship that thing for $8.50 is beyond me, however. must be a loss...

Jean-Luc just confirmed that's a 'big' Gearbest promo until stock lasts. So if you can wait a bit that's maybe the cheapest way to get a fully equipped H3 device (all 4 USB ports available)

suggested shipping was faster and I figured would be nice to know when its coming

longsleep: this is a loophole, you can do an ioctl and read or write to _every_ memory location of your choice
<apritzel>
I doubt they are aware of the difference between non_secure and insecure
<longsleep>
apritzel: yes - i understand that but i thought it was required no? As they have removed it nobody uses it - but why is it there in the first place?
<apritzel>
hacking, experimentation, lack of proper abstraction
<longsleep>
and why have they suddenly removed this part of code? Is there some kind of exploit for Allwinner devices using this?
<rellla>
The well known allwinner shitstorm starting, a few posting against it.

And again it's because of the "aggressive" ones that don't or won't recognize the community's work.

finally managed to get apritzel's a64-v5 tree kernel to compile and boot on the Pine64 :D
<fire219>
it shouldn't be a big achievement, but it just didn't want to work for me
<fire219>
and i had to tweak the config quite a lot to make it build...
<fire219>
now to figure out why it boots but stops before doing anything with the rootfs (AFAICT)
<fire219>
there's no fs errors or anything...
<hp197>
For perfect mainline kernels you have to wait on allwinner, untill they produce one
<hp197>
;-)
