<micken> is simplefb data really located at start of ram?
<micken> from what I can see the allocation function allocates from start of ram, but when it writes plat->base as the fraemebuffer, I can't see those two (the phys address) and plat->base connected
anarsoul|3 has quit [Ping timeout: 264 seconds]
<micken> but if plat->base is the physical address of the framebuffer, then I can save that to a fixed location
<wens> vagrantc: was fixed in 561f8281cf90, but maybe wasn't picked to stable :/
<micken> in riscos that address will be saved to sram before mmu activation
<micken> and after mmu is on , and sram is mapped , I simply read the address and maps that
<micken> so not rocketsience *if* plat->base is the phys address of the framebuffer

<anarsoul> well, mipi_dsi_dcs_get_power_mode() returns 0xff for power mode and it doesn't seem to be valid value as per dsi spec
<anarsoul> so I guess something's wrong with dsi driver on a64

<Phrk_> Hi recently mali blobs got released for r6p2 and r8p1
<Phrk_> how can I know if i got r6p2 and r8p1 ?
clemens3_ has quit [Ping timeout: 240 seconds]
<shadeslayer> Phrk_: how do you mean?
<shadeslayer> you can run either one of those
<shadeslayer> you just compile one of those for your kernel and off you go
<Phrk_> shadeslayer, yep but which one ? How do you know which hardware i have (i have pinebook pine64)

<Phrk_> shadeslayer, Oh ! Nice it work well on mainline 4.17? Which distro ?
<Phrk_> also you need to have ssh acces to compile it no ?
LargePrime has joined #linux-sunxi
<shadeslayer> Phrk_: I cross compiled it
lurchi_ is now known as lurchi__
<shadeslayer> I tested on Netrunner
<shadeslayer> KWin with Compositing was very slow, but KWin without Compositing was 60 fps
<shadeslayer> need to look into that
<Phrk_> shadeslayer, with qemu ?
<shadeslayer> no, I cross compiled it
<shadeslayer> qemu is emulation
<shadeslayer> read the README
<Phrk_> there is a qemu bin for cross compilation i use it for android compilation aarch64
<Phrk_> but cool need to test it on netruller
<Phrk_> what did you use for cross compile ? shadeslayer
<shadeslayer> gcc?
<Phrk_> but i mean you cross compiled it on x86 ?
<shadeslayer> yes?
<Phrk_> then how kernel-headers (x86) can know the kernel module is aarch64 ?
<shadeslayer> see the readme?
<shadeslayer> you cross compile the kernel
<shadeslayer> then set the KDIR to the cross compiled kernel and build the module
<Phrk_> which readme ?
<Phrk_> cool thanks a lot shadeslayer
<shadeslayer> yw

<ElBarto> anarsoul: with your latest pinebook branch (pinebook-wip-20180617) updated to master I can't talk with the anx6345
<ElBarto> anarsoul: http://dpaste.com/246W072 boot log with a few debug
<ElBarto> anarsoul: if you have any pointer on where to look :)
<anarsoul> ElBarto: yes, enable regulator support
SP7RT has joined #linux-sunxi
<anarsoul> however that's probably not it
<ElBarto> anarsoul: CONFIG_DM_REGULATOR ?
<anarsoul> yes
<ElBarto> I have it
<ElBarto> no regulator when I use the regulator command
aalm has joined #linux-sunxi
<anarsoul> ElBarto: well, try using previous branch
<anarsoul> probably I broke pinebook at some point
<anarsoul> ElBarto: you need fixed regulator

<anarsoul> ElBarto: it's fixed regulator, controlled by gpio
<ElBarto> anarsoul: which regulator are you talking about ?
<anarsoul> ElBarto: one that controls backlight power
hitech95 has joined #linux-sunxi
<ElBarto> why does the backlight would have an effect that I can talk to the ANX chip ?
<anarsoul> ElBarto: it shouldn't
<anarsoul> but anyway, try enabling it
<ElBarto> it just enables the DC/DC convertor for the backlight ...
<ElBarto> eh fun thing, after ~20 mins powered off the display is here ...

<ElBarto> anarsoul: I need to go but could try that
<ElBarto> anarsoul: but why ?
<anarsoul> ElBarto: well, I have no idea why it doesn't work for you
<ElBarto> you think that it's not really powered off or something ?
<anarsoul> ElBarto: I recently switched to using i2c controller instead of i2c-gpio
<anarsoul> that could be it
<ElBarto> could be hw related as I always had problem
<ElBarto> but I always had problem with your u-boot
<anarsoul> but it's stable for me...
<ElBarto> I didn't formatted the eMMC and never had any problem when booting from it
lerc has quit [Ping timeout: 260 seconds]
<ElBarto> now that I have a serial console I can say that it always boot
<ElBarto> just sometimes no video ...
<ElBarto> I have to go but will debug more

<vagrantc> i seem to recall seeing that, and a more recent ATF fixed it for me

<mripard> heh. Been there, done that :)
<anarsoul> hm, devmem crashes on mainline...
clemens3_ has joined #linux-sunxi
<mripard> you'd be better off enabling the regmap traces
<mripard> it traces all register writes through ftrace
<anarsoul> mripard: yeah, I don't have it on bsp
<mripard> I meant on mainline
<anarsoul> mripard: thanks for the tip
<anarsoul> I found some difference in regs values
<anarsoul> for instance, dsi_basic_ctl, dsi_basic_ctl1 and dsi_basic_size0 values differ. Mainline driver doesn't set trail_inv and trail_fill fields for dsi_basic_ctl
jakllsch has joined #linux-sunxi
<anarsoul> mripard: mainline doesn't touch number of regs that bsp driver touches. Is it on purpose?
phdeswer has joined #linux-sunxi

<mripard> possibly ? :)
<mripard> I've done pretty much the same thing you did, and then cleaning up the writes that were apparently not relevant
<anarsoul> I see
<mripard> so depending on the exact register, the answer would be yes or no :)
<anarsoul> what about dsi_basic_ctl?
<anarsoul> bsp drivers sets its value based on lanes number
