<wens> it's up to individual drivers
<wens> hence the suspend/resume hooks for drivers
<wens> which most of our drivers don't implement
<wens> anarsoul: mostly because there was no suspend support at the platform level, there was no way to test if the PM functions worked properly
<anarsoul> wens: I see
<anarsoul> wens: thanks for explanation
<smaeul> printf core > /sys/power/pm_test; printf mem > /sys/power/state
<smaeul> doesn't require any platform suspend support
<smaeul> or `printf devices > /sys/power/pm_test` to avoid even the cpu hotplug. (https://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/power/basic-pm-debugging.txt)
<MoeIcenowy> wens: s2idle will also suspend peripherals

<wens> anarsoul: arm-soc hasn't sent their PR
<wens> likely because all maintainers were at ELCE last week
<anarsoul> I see
<anarsoul> hope they don't miss merge window
<wens> IIRC this is only the first week, right?
<anarsoul> yeah
<wens> neither has clk nor drm sent their PRs
<anarsoul> wens: any idea what would be the best way to force dithering? I'm thinking about another dt property

<wens> "force"?
<wens> whether a panel needs dithering should be considered based on its own color depth, and the connecting bus
<wens> why would you need to force it?

<MoeIcenowy> wens: sometimes when a bridge is in used
<MoeIcenowy> the bridge may be connected via 6bit, or 8bit
<MoeIcenowy> on A64 it's 6bit
<MoeIcenowy> but the bridge chip is capable of 8bit
<MoeIcenowy> and on 1080p pb the panel is also capable of 8bit
<MoeIcenowy> we should have a way to tell the os that it's really 6bit
<MoeIcenowy> in fact on this case it can be in TCON driver as the RGB intf of A64 is only 6bit

<wens> if the interconnecting bus to the panel is only 6 bits, that is also covered I believe
<wens> might have to check that
