<aalm> tuxd3v, sounds to me like you're most likely confused about something
<aalm> where u-boot is, and where it is loaded to, are separate addresses, maybe you've mixed these?

<MoeIcenowy> my Pinebook suddenly cannot connect to Wi-Fi
<MoeIcenowy> finally I found that the issue is that -- the RTC time went to 22th century
<MoeIcenowy> (maybe because of the timer bug

<megi> smaeul: I'm working on decompiler for or1k
<megi> I'm pretty far, just need to finte tune the calling convention
<megi> It's written in sleigh
<smaeul> megi: in what framework? standalone? ghidra?
<megi> Ghidra
<smaeul> ah, exciting! I wanted to do that at some point! thanks!
<megi> It works surprisingly well
<megi> I'll put it on github soonish
<megi> it even handles the delay slots correctly
<megi> Ghidra is kind of an amazing piece of SW, all I did was write a sleigh file and a buch of xmls
<megi> no Java
<smaeul> megi: still, that's amazing! thank you so much
<smaeul> btw which firmware are you looking at?
<megi> ;)
<megi> mine
<smaeul> ah, so you started with symbols?
<megi> it has some dwarf info, which helps
<megi> yes
<megi> I also added a register map I have collected during my previous reveng efforts
<smaeul> register map?
<megi> a simple file containing names of registers and addresses on A83T soc
<megi> it can be loaded into ghidra directly
<smaeul> oh, you mean MMIO
<smaeul> ok
<megi> which is why you see the UART0_* names in the screenshots
<megi> yes
<smaeul> btw I have symbol lists for a few of the AW blobs, e.g. https://github.com/smaeul/sunxi-blobs/blob/master/a64/arisc_tinalinux/symbols (plus scripts to inject that list into an ELF) if you want to see how well it works there
<smaeul> that blob has debug printfs left in it, so it's the easiest one to reverse :)
<megi> nice, I have something similar for H3 arisc
<megi> fw
<MoeIcenowy> smaeul: I backported the mainline one with some of its early version
<MoeIcenowy> and I even don't know when the thing happened -- the time changed is RTC time
<smaeul> hmm, weird
<megi> smaeul: https://megous.com/git/ghidra-or1k/ if you want to take a look :)
<megi> I'll probably take a break from it for another week, I've already spent too much time on it

<lavamind> hello! I'm looking for assistance trying to boot 4.19.28 on a NTC C.H.I.P computer (based on Allwinner R8 SoC)
<lavamind> the kernel boots up but is unable to find the rootfs
<mru> does it give a reason?
<lavamind> here is the kernel log from serial console http://paste.debian.net/1076578/
<lavamind> mur: I think the key is "UBI error: cannot open mtd 4, error -19"
<lavamind> I've found a very similar problem with the CHIP reported here https://patchwork.ozlabs.org/patch/764969/
<mru> 19 is ENODEV
<mru> there's no mention of mtd in the log
<mru> did you enable the driver?
<lavamind> mru: yes CONFIG_MTD_NAND=y and CONFIG_MTD_NAND_SUNXI=y present in /boot/config-4.19.28
<mru> is the devicetree correct?
<lavamind> mru: that's beyond my current ability to tell :(
<lavamind> I've tried both with the devicetree that's built and the one from the working 4.3.0-ntc kernel
<lavamind> mru: there's the defconfig I used to build the kernel http://paste.debian.net/1076579/
<lavamind> it's using this devicetree /usr/lib/linux-image-4.19.28-lib3/sun5i-r8-chip.dtb in /boot
<lavamind> how can I chceck whether its correct ?
<lavamind> looking at the kernel log differences, in 4.3.0-ntc I see "vcc-3v3: supplied by ipsout" while in 4.19 there's "vcc3v0: disabling"
freemangordon has quit [Ping timeout: 258 seconds]
<lavamind> mru: I've found out how to decompile .dtb files, and compared them
<lavamind> there are many differences but one that stands out is that the 4.3.0-ntc (working) has a NAND subsection describing partitions
<lavamind> eg. rootfs@1000000 {
<lavamind> I'm wondering if that might be the problem
<lavamind> this is the diff http://paste.debian.net/1076586/
<lavamind> the -lib3 is the one generated using 4.19.28

<lavamind> bbrezillon: I found your work on UBI/MLC here https://github.com/bbrezillon/linux/commits/nand/mlc
<vagrantc> lavamind: you trying to resurrect the CHIP ? :)
<lavamind> vagrantc: lol no, but I finally have a use for it and I want to run a recent kernel on it :P
<lavamind> I just want to resurrect *my* CHIP heh
<vagrantc> if you manage to get the MLC stuff working, i'd be curious ... i've got a pocketCHIP as well as an early generation CHIP
<vagrantc> haven't really messed with them lately
<lavamind> vagrantc: well you can patch out the error and apparently it works for a bit until the filesystem gets currpted heh
<vagrantc> heh
<lavamind> but since there's been work to have it play nicely with MLC I'm wondering maybe I can help a bit by just testing it
<lavamind> vagrantc: if your CHIP is a 4GB model with SLC NAND you won't have the problem though
<lavamind> AIUI not all CHIPs were fitted with the 8GB MLC chip
<vagrantc> i seem to recall one was upstreamed, and it wasn't the one i had
<lavamind> vagrantc: hi, by the way :)
<lavamind> you still need to pick up your water bottle, its still at my house :D
<vagrantc> lavamind: oh, i should come up with an excuse to visit :)
<lavamind> yep!
