I am just starting with linux on SBC's (other than raspberry pi) and am looking for something that has good mainline support (no, or minimal driver blobs, etc.) and is friendly to building from scratch. I'm experienced with Linux From Scratch, but only on x86. Any recommendations?

I believe it's mainline u-boot... Don't think there is any firmware needed... But the hardware is already a bit dated, just USB 2.0, 100Mbps Ethernet, no wifi

if your board is rev.G then try Olimex' fork of u-boot which had a bugfix applied today (or was it yesterday?)

@micken, The new 11" Pinebook using 1080P IPS LCD panel and previosu one using 720P TN LCD panel.

micken: btw, you should use recent enough u-boot. 2018.11 should work fine

if you are using BSP code, you need to recompile your code to support 1080P output. On the Mainline Linux, the eDP driver will read EDID info and configure accordingly.
