so if you specify a panel on a DSI connector and it's not attached, should probe in the module driver still be called? I just want to know if this is a software issue before I start soldering...
<wens>
it will
<wens>
it might fail because there's no panel to respond to DSI commands
<wens>
but it will at least try

wens, oh... because my module is getting loaded, ending up in /sys/bus/mipi-dsi/drivers/ili9881d-dsi/bind but the printk in the module probe function isn't being called
<suprothunderbolt>
prepare or enable are also not called
<suprothunderbolt>
I've currently got the panel connected and it was responding earlier... then I started poking around with my oscilloscope probes...
<suprothunderbolt>
the panel is getting backlight power still so some of the pins are working fine, but I was keen to check before I unsolder this nightmarishly tiny connector

so if I restart sometimes it finds the DSI panel and probes it, but sometimes probe isn't called.
<suprothunderbolt>
I just checked and replaced the connector on the board. It now has worse soldering than before and still seems properly connected

jaganteki: according to googlegroups, your account bounces
<libv>
but 2 political emails were sent all over from that account
<libv>
making me assume that the account is hacked
<KotCzarny>
track headers, maybe he has viree on his computer
<libv>
KotCzarny: the fact that it bounces makes me think that the account is no longer in use
<libv>
whatever the issue, this account should not be allowed to send to our ml
<libv>
which is why i disabled that
<KotCzarny>
is jagannadha same as jaganteki?
<libv>
it was created on the same day as an account for a company jagan apparently worked for then
<bshah>
I erm, not sure if is same jagan :)
<libv>
2017/1/25 both the gmail address and openedev.com
<libv>
jagan@amarulasolutions was only added to the ml 20180205
<libv>
bshah: perhaps
<libv>
but it is my job to disable obvious spam
<libv>
and i thought it useful to warn jaganteki
<KotCzarny>
yeah, just wondering if same jagan
<libv>
same day
<jaganteki>
libv: I have seen jagannadh.teki@gmail.com is bounce becuase " you’re out of storage space"

<libv>
jaganteki: so this email was actually sent by you?
<jaganteki>
Yes that gmail is owned by me, since I'm using company mail these days. I accentially unware it is out-off-storage
<jaganteki>
jagan@amarulasolutions.com is active one
<jaganteki>
no issues with disable gmail.

(oops, accidentally send a message) patch 1081576, since it's SPL thing, I think I should remove all if statements which checking the generation of CPU, and use #ifdef instead, which will decrease the size of SPL. Should I do that in separate patch ?
