<KotCzarny>
but i think mali450 is giving troubles still

:/
<KotCzarny>
and it's for kernel 4.x
<Mangy_Dog>
armbian is at 4.19
<Mangy_Dog>
so should work?

mali 450 / h5: This chip is working properly at 1080p only with libhybris and linux-3.10; Otherwise you are limited to 800x600, and the configuration is still unreliable.

well for this project its 800x480, but i do want the hardware acceliration to be used in the game emulations and what not
Perlovka_ has joined #linux-sunxi
<noblock>
At 800x480 this will be OK. But if you are trying something like: glmark2-es2-drm -b refract you will likely crash the device.
<Mangy_Dog>
:(

<Mangy_Dog>
so do i really just have to wait till some one maybe hopefully brings out a propper driver for this?
<KotCzarny>
maybe grab opi0+2H3 too?
<Mangy_Dog>
means having to buy another board
<Mangy_Dog>
:/
<KotCzarny>
r&d takes time/resources
<KotCzarny>
especially if one isnt a careful reader
<KotCzarny>
:P
<Mangy_Dog>
sure theyre not overly exspensive but ive already spent more buying a bunch of differernt boards
<Mangy_Dog>
than i wanted to
<KotCzarny>
you can always repurpose some of them
<Mangy_Dog>
oh for sure
<KotCzarny>
even as a smart tv box
<Mangy_Dog>
and thats the plan
<Mangy_Dog>
but right this moment i didnt want to have to buy yet another board
<KotCzarny>
or nas
<KotCzarny>
or home server
<KotCzarny>
or iot appliance
<Mangy_Dog>
nodnods
<beeble>
or doorstop
<beeble>
or paperweight
<noblock>
You may try, using a debug version of the mali driver; If you don't have any 'PP Errors' in your setup, this will work.
<Mangy_Dog>
but there was also the bit about the h5 being a slightly faster chip than the h3 :/
<KotCzarny>
beeble: the worst part is that when you buy too many, they start disappearing
<KotCzarny>
i had 4 opipc
<Mangy_Dog>
heh
<KotCzarny>
now i can only locate 2
<KotCzarny>
2 went MIA somehow
<Mangy_Dog>
ive had that with some of my arduinio pro minis
<Mangy_Dog>
i use them in some small projects went to try and find them and suddernly all gone
<KotCzarny>
even worse they take their sdcard with them
<KotCzarny>
which is my another irk
<Mangy_Dog>
ive just ordered a bunch of 32 gb cards off aliexpress....
<beeble>
KotCzarny: same if you source the components. you start assembly and at the end somehow it always looks like you have less then you should
<Mangy_Dog>
going by the buyer reviews they seem ligit cards
<Mangy_Dog>
but ill still test them when they come
<KotCzarny>
Mangy_Dog: pro tip, never order anything without A1 or A2 class
<KotCzarny>
if you plan to use with linux
<KotCzarny>
or even worse, android
<Mangy_Dog>
these are class 10?
<KotCzarny>
wrong.
<KotCzarny>
class10 only guarantees SEQUENTIAL access
<KotCzarny>
you almost always need high 4k random r/w
<KotCzarny>
which is class A1 and A2 about
<KotCzarny>
i personally recommend 'sandisk endurance' series, not A1, but close
<Mangy_Dog>
U1 class 10
<Mangy_Dog>
i guess not going to be great then
<KotCzarny>
and they are for operating at higher temps

samsung evos
<KotCzarny>
not even evos+ ?
<Mangy_Dog>
they might be fakes though you never know
<Mangy_Dog>
evo+
<Mangy_Dog>
yeah
<Mangy_Dog>
but its half the price than buying direct in the uk
<KotCzarny>
still, minimize writes and temperature
<Mangy_Dog>
so worth a punt
<Mangy_Dog>
and if they dont work ill just get a refund by posting the evidence
<Mangy_Dog>
ali is good if you proove it
