plaes: No, /proc/cpuinfo doesn't shows such thing ... The friend of MoeIcenowy should check in /boot/config-4.19.38-sunxi64 if "CONFIG_SUN50I_ERRATUM_UNKNOWN1=y" is present.

timer workaround won't show in cpuinfo
<MoeIcenowy>
I think it should show in dmesg

Right ! "dmesg" should report "arch_timer: Enabling global workaround for Allwinner erratum UNKNOWN1"
<xade>
@mru : i ran "cat /proc/config.gz | gunzip | grep CONFIG_I2C_MV64XXX"
<xade>
and get: CONFIG_I2C_MV64XXX=y
<mru>
that's fine then
<mru>
check /sys/bus/i2c/devices/
<xade>
I can ls this directory
<mru>
anything in it?
<xade>
nop, empty
<mru>
are the i2c controllers enabled in your devicetree?
<xade>
when i type "find /proc/device-tree/ -type f -exec head {} + | grep -a i2c" I have entries (related to /proc/device-tree/soc/i2c@1c2b000 and /proc/device-tree/soc/i2c@1c2b400)
<mru>
run "head /sys/firmware/devicetree/base/soc/i2c*/status"
<xade>
is there a way to enable it from user space? or do I have to patch my dtb ?
<mru>
you have to use a devicetree suitable for your hardware
<mru>
where did you get the one you are using?

it is the standard one provided by meta-sunxi (yocto meta layer). They are using a modified mainline kernel 4.16 currently. I didn't modified it but everything is working fine (usb, wifi, etc.) appart the bluetooth (and i2c)

thanks for your help and diagnostic! I am not a kernel specialist. I know how it works but never dived into it and hopped I would managed (and I did until now) to finish the project like that :-D
<xade>
I will check how to setup correctly my device tree. I assume that my bluetooth not working is a similar issue.

xade: you can simply decompile the DTB into DTS, edit to change status to "okay", and recompile into DTB (of course, after keeping backup of old one)

megi: I'm using your Linux tree on my OrangePi 3 and I noticed that ethernet doesn't work after a reboot.
<jernej>
Do you know anything about this?
<jernej>
disconnecting and then reconnecting power supply cable helps
<jernej>
I suspect that PMU is left in inappropriate state

doesn't work how?
<megi>
I had problems with systemd 242
<megi>
ah, you mean power cycling the board helps?
<megi>
I don't have any such issues, ethernet always works after reboot, but I noticed similar reports on Armbian forum
<megi>
dmesg output might be useful, if it's a phy initialization problem, you may try changing the timing values for reset/reg_gmac_2v5 in dts
<megi>
I have a very hard PSU, so maybe softer PSUs may need different timings, but I really don't know
